History

In the aftermath of the Nine-Tails attack, Konoha residents spread rumors that the Uchiha's Sharingan could control the Nine-Tails and blamed the clan for the disaster. The clan was subsequently relocated to the village outskirts and kept under surveillance. Restricted access to missions devastated its income, leaving the Police Force as its principal source of revenue; even that funding was regularly delayed or cut following complaints. Not every clan member possessed a Sharingan, making the financial strain particularly severe for ordinary members. 2 4

The clan's distrust of Konoha deepened after Fugaku secretly exchanged one Sharingan for funds during the Kumogakure crisis. Members celebrated the money without knowing its source, while Fugaku and Shisui concealed the transaction. 7 Internal divisions followed: the Hawk faction pushed for a coup, while Conservatives sought to ease tensions. Shisui's stolen eye and Kotoamatsukami heightened the conflict, and Fugaku abdicated in favor of Shisui. 8 18 20

Under Shisui's leadership, the clan increasingly acted against Konoha's higher-ups. It backed Jinghuo and Shisui's campaign against Shimura Danzō, took control of Root after Danzō's death, and placed Itachi at its head. 27 31 32 The Uchiha then used Root and public rumors to undermine the Shimura Clan before its annihilation. 33 34

The clan's conflict with the Hyuga escalated when Jinghuo struck the Hyuga Clan Land with Lava Style Chakra Mode, initially avoiding casualties but causing severe property damage. A later attack, Dawn · Annihilation, reduced the compound to ash while sparing most clan members; the Hyuga Great Elder disappeared afterward. The Hyuga subsequently abandoned the Police Force to avoid further confrontation. 41 45 46

Sarutobi Hiruzen later offered to return the Uchiha to their original central village land. The clan initially celebrated, but Jinghuo and Shisui recognized the offer as a political test and a means to draw the Uchiha back under the Hokage's influence. The clan refused the relocation and openly treated Hiruzen with hostility. 48 49 51

The Uchiha ultimately withdrew from Konoha in an orderly departure, bringing civilians, children, supplies, archives, and stored tools with them. The Nara, Yamanaka, Akimichi, Aburame, and Inuzuka clans followed their lead. 111 The clan later founded the Uchiha Empire and defended its Imperial City against the Ninja Allied Forces. 132 133

During the Fifth Shinobi World War, the Uchiha's strength became a central threat to the Allied Forces. Their advance was briefly stalled by Sunagakure's poison mist, but the Allied leadership concluded that it had dangerously underestimated the clan by focusing too heavily on Jinghuo alone. 141 Deva Path Pain later annihilated the Imperial City, nearly exterminating the clan. The disaster drove further Mangekyo awakenings among the survivors. 144 146

The rebuilt Mangekyo force participated in the destruction of Sunagakure and later confronted Madara Uchiha. Despite deploying numerous Susanoo and ocular abilities, the clan was overwhelmed after Madara became the Ten-Tails' jinchūriki and entered Sage of Six Paths Mode. 166 169 174

Personality

The clan is divided between members willing to compromise for stability and members who see force as the only answer to Konoha's treatment. The Hawk faction repeatedly favors coups, retaliation, and displays of military power, while the Conservative faction initially hopes Shisui can reduce tensions without open conflict. 18 20

Clan members are fiercely protective of the Sharingan, treating its theft or use by outsiders as an affront to the entire clan. This shared grievance fuels hostility toward Danzō, Root, Kakashi, and Yamato. 11 16 66 They are also highly reactive toward perceived disrespect to Jinghuo, whose Susanoo and later political influence turn him into the clan's most revered figure. 16 49 124

Despite its reputation for recklessness, the clan is capable of restraint when Shisui intervenes. He silences a young member at a war council rather than allowing a confrontation with the Hokage Advisors to escalate, demonstrating a growing effort to place wider strategy above immediate outrage. 75
