Background / History

Karura is Ōtsutsuki Hamura's youngest daughter and the younger sister of Indra, Asura, and Mandala. Tianqi initially mistakes her for Hinata Hyuga because the two are almost identical in appearance; he later speculates that Hinata may be Karura's reincarnation. Despite her gentle demeanor, Tianqi senses that Karura possesses immense Chakra and a complete Tenseigan. 233

During Indra and Asura's conflict, Karura attempts to prevent her brothers from escalating their rivalry. She pulls Mandala away from a confrontation with Indra, then remains in Indra's territory in hopes of moderating the dispute. Her peacekeeping efforts repeatedly fail against Indra's obsession with defeating Asura. 233 234

Karura becomes fascinated by Tianqi, first questioning him about his Sharingan and origins, then accompanying him through the conflict between Indra and Asura. Although she initially blocks Tianqi from intervening because she considers the battle an Ōtsutsuki family matter, he yields to her request and watches the battle beside her. 234 246

Her affection for Tianqi becomes explicit after he initially rejects her because he is married, has a grown son, and cannot remain in her era. Karura nevertheless persists, and the two become lovers in the Sage of Six Paths' tomb. 254 263

Karura's maternal uncle later reveals that Hamura's descendants are bound to remain on the moon and guard it for life. Tianqi confesses that he comes from a thousand years in the future and promises to revive Karura after returning to his own era. Her gentleness does not prevent her from acting decisively. She kills a Root ninja without hesitation after he threatens Tianqi's household, intervenes during Konoha's crises, and attacks the Ten-Tails in fury after Neji is injured. 294 368 411
