Wang Yu then climbed down into the shelter and laid the Large Wooden Planks across the ground one by one.

Wang Yu had made them slightly longer on purpose. The two stone walls were uneven in places, and the extra 4 centimeters would make the planks fit tightly between the giant rocks.
