Background

Ye Qingxian grew up an orphan in Qingcheng’s Slums, where local residents regarded him as their pride; he had been fed by the neighborhood since childhood. At Qingcheng High School, he was celebrated as the school’s foremost genius and a “True Dragon” after becoming a First-Rank Warrior. 3 67

In the original plot, Yan Shubing gave him Zhu Ping'an’s Qi and Blood Pill, allowing Ye to break through before their mock-exam duel. He defeated Zhu in that version of events and dismissed him as someone who could never become a true opponent. 2

His expected dominance was disrupted when Zhu Ping'an emerged as a rival. During their mock exam, Ye was initially sent flying and defeated, but entered an Epiphany state that allowed him to evade Zhu’s attacks with his eyes closed while his Qi and Blood continued to rise. 4

Ye Qingxian is a tall young man frequently dressed in white robes. He is renowned for an exceptionally handsome, refined face that draws intense admiration from female students. 3

Personality

Ye Qingxian is proud, competitive, and highly conscious of his status as a genius. He initially treats Zhu Ping'an with aloof contempt, convinced that the gap between them cannot be bridged. Repeated defeats and humiliations severely damage this confidence, often provoking rage, resentment, or reckless decisions. 2 4 21

He is also notably persistent. Rather than abandoning an opportunity after being humiliated, he endured soaking in the fouled Yijin Lingquan because its marrow-cleansing benefits remained valuable. 39 After Zhu forced him to confront his reliance on schemes and inheritances, Ye chose to leave Cangqiong Tower and pursue strength by what he considered honorable means. 109

His determination can become ruthless. He used Leng Family martial artists as sacrifices for the Forbidden Fruit and later sought Zhu’s death by bargaining with the Qinglian Huolin Tiger, setting a Beast Tide toward Qingcheng in motion. 51 57 His devotion to Yan Shubing is equally extreme: he accepted the seal of a Level 9 Soul Devouring Demon and threatened mutual destruction to take her away from Cangqiong Academy. 206

Secret Realm Number Thirteen

Ye repeatedly discovers valuable opportunities in Secret Realm Number Thirteen, including the Rainbow Surprise Tai Sui, Yijin Lingquan, a martial-skill manual, and the Forbidden Fruit. Zhu Ping'an exploits Ye’s luck, steals or obstructs these gains, and eventually coerces Ye into a seventy-thirty alliance in Zhu’s favor. 37 43

Ye later reveals that he used Leng Family martial artists as sacrifices while attempting to absorb the Forbidden Fruit. Zhu interrupts him, takes the released energy, and further deepens their enmity. 51 52

Beast Tide and Great Xia Academy

Desperate to kill Zhu, Ye enters mutant-beast territory with the Demon Qi Robe and enlists the Qinglian Huolin Tiger. The resulting Beast Tide threatens Qingcheng, while Ye conceals his involvement and attempts to frame Zhu’s hostility as jealousy over Yan Shubing. 57 68

After entering Great Xia Academy, Ye reaches the Second Tier and seeks Zhan Wushuang’s corpse to gain access to the Cangqiong Ancient Saint’s inheritance. 95 105

Cangqiong Tower

Ye retrieves Zhan Wushuang’s corpse and secretly enters Cangqiong Academy, only for Zhu to blackmail him into climbing Cangqiong Tower together. The corpse removes the tower’s pressure, enabling Ye, Zhu, and Yan Shubing to reach the summit. 105 107

When the inheritance does not immediately go to him, Ye attacks Zhu. After being pushed to the brink by the Kill Word Sword Technique, he accepts Zhu’s criticism of his reliance on schemes, abandons the inheritance, and vows to surpass Zhu through his own strength. 108 109

Sea of Death and Dragon Corpse

Ye returns as an early Third Rank martial artist seeking the Dragon Corpse beneath the Sea of Death. Zhu defeats and restrains him, spends six months refining most of the Dragon Qi, then releases Ye to receive the remaining Dragon Qi and the Dragon Soul. 154 157 159

The experience briefly causes Ye to become sincerely grateful to Zhu, though Zhu’s interruption of his later Epiphany rapidly destroys that goodwill. 158 161

Great Xia Academy Team Two and the Engagement Incident

As captain of Great Xia Academy’s Team Two, Ye joins Zhu’s side against martial artists from Sakura Country and other nations, despite their mutual hostility. His combat performance helps establish him as a prominent academy figure. 185 188

When Zhu and Yan Shubing announce their engagement, Ye crashes the ceremony and uses the Soul Devouring Demon seal as leverage to take Yan away.
