The thing Mei Chengyu cared about most was that night he rushed to the Saint Hall, only to be stopped by his master and not allowed to enter.
After Yu Sui came out of the Saint Hall Main Hall, she could use Five Elements Qi and practice Nine Schools Techniques, no longer being a Normal Practitioner.
The key point was that night.
If Yu Sui hadn't been able to seal the Breath Soil and learn the Bagua Life Technique that night, perhaps when she was attacked in the outer city, the Strange Fire wouldn't have been able to strengthen the Nine Schools Techniques, but would have directly burned her to death like the first time.
To go from a Normal Practitioner to a practitioner who could cultivate techniques was already astonishing enough.
But his master didn't let him know Yu Sui's secret, and Mei Chengyu didn't delve into it. Even if Yu Sui put on a different face in front of him and behind his back, he wouldn't care, as his master could handle it anyway.
Who didn't have a secret or two they didn't want others to know?
Mei Chengyu knew Nian Qiuyan was reminding him that seeing Yu Sui tonight was no coincidence. Even if Yu Sui didn't directly participate, she was indirectly involved.
"It's indeed rare for the Divine Wood Sign to show such a phenomenon during divination," Mei Chengyu said, his gaze fixed on the Divine Wood Sign in Nian Qiuyan's palm, lost in thought. "Even if Junior Martial Sister was involved, she probably had no malice, otherwise Master would have intervened."
Nian Qiuyan nodded. "I think so too. I can't think of any reason why your Junior Martial Sister would attack you, unless you're bullying her using your Senior Martial Brother status."
Mei Chengyu lifted his hands from the medicine water, removing and re-bandaging the medicated cloth, and casually said, "She's not that easy to bully."
Whether Yu Sui's appearance was a coincidence or what its significance was, Mei Chengyu didn't care much, as there was no malice involved. What interested him slightly was the person who eliminated his Nine Schools Techniques tonight.
"It must be Mystic Technique," Nian Qiuyan said thoughtfully. "The ability to eliminate others' Nine Schools Techniques is something the School of Names is quite adept at, but they can't do it to this extent. The Golden Lightning and Xustar Star General you used are both Heavenly Secrets Techniques from various schools, yet they were eliminated the moment they were unleashed. This is already the strength of a School of Names Sage."
"There couldn't have been a Sage among those people tonight. If a Sage wanted to kill Meimei, his master wouldn't have remained silent," Cang Shu said as he changed Mei Chengyu's medicine water. "If it was Mystic Technique, it could be 'Heavenly Official' or 'Six Paths'."
Nian Qiuyan put away the Divine Wood Sign and said, "Both of these are top-ranked Mystic Techniques, and they can both break others' Nine Schools Techniques."
"Mystic Technique doesn't require borrowing Five Elements Qi, but he was initially hiding in the dark to perform the elimination. He should have been communicating with Wei Kun using the Listening Wind Ruler. This means he didn't dare to expose his possession of Mystic Technique to Wei Kun."
Mei Chengyu recalled, "But he didn't make any moves while eliminating the Nine Schools Techniques, and it even failed once midway. If the owner of Shadow Devour hadn't almost died, he might not have acted."
"There are limitations on distance and usage. While eliminating techniques, one cannot use Five Elements Qi to embody Nine Schools Techniques," Nian Qiuyan nodded. "Then it must be Heavenly Official, ranked ninth."
The records about various Mystic Techniques varied in detail. Some were very detailed, while others were just a few sentences long. This was because too few people knew about them, had seen them, or the people who possessed these Mystic Techniques had never exposed their abilities to the world.
Yu Sui, listening to Shi Yuezhen explain the essentials of Spirit Calming Sleep downstairs, her eyeballs followed her as she took out medicine and wrote, but she was watching the second-floor screen monitored by the Five Elements Light Core.
Listening to her Senior Martial Brothers discuss Gu Gan's Mystic Technique, the final guess was the same as hers.
Gu Gan probably thought the operation tonight would be a success. Relying on his Mystic Technique · Heavenly Official, he believed Mei Chengyu was bound to die. Although he had eliminated Mei Chengyu's various Nine Schools Techniques multiple times, he still underestimated this person.
Mei Chengyu wasn't a fool, and no one around him was a fool. They had all reached Grade A Disciple through their own talent and hard work, and they hadn't stopped there, continuing to move forward. As long as they exchanged information, it would be easy to find the person.
If Mei Chengyu had died, there would have been no such trouble, but unfortunately, Mei Chengyu didn't die.
"Heavenly Official, the ninth-ranked Mystic Technique. There are many people who covet it," Mei Chengyu raised his eyebrows slightly, a wicked smile appearing on his refined face. "If this news gets out, I won't have to lift a finger; there will be plenty of people to help me find him."
Besides, the fact that he killed Wei Kun tonight would be announced by the academy, indirectly helping him publicize that someone possessed Mystic Technique · Heavenly Official.
"You lost points too," Cang Shu said.
Mei Chengyu shrugged indifferently. "I'll make them up after a few days at Mechanism Island."
"I think you'll need to recuperate for a while," Cang Shu added. "At least a month."
Mei Chengyu frowned, a little unhappy, but there was nothing he could do.
"Is Yuezhen on duty at the medical hall again this month?" Nian Qiuyan asked Cang Shu.
Mei Chengyu also looked at him. "I've never seen a Medical School Disciple on duty for two consecutive months, and all by herself. There are so many Grade A Disciples in the Medical School, why isn't any of them coming?"
Cang Shu's expression seemed a bit helpless. "The Medical School has the fiercest competition and the most to learn. Guarding the medical hall is considered a waste of time for most Medical School Disciples. Sometimes, due to time constraints, disciples on duty at the medical hall can't participate in Hundred Schools Night Walk or other trials, so not many are willing to come."
Only some disciples below Grade A who wanted to practice would be willing to come, but they couldn't stay for long because they had even more to learn and were very busy.
Mei Chengyu said coldly, "Guarding the medical hall and saving people doesn't earn her a single cent. Tell her not to guard it anymore. If disciples don't guard it, there are instructors."
"Medical hall duty is a mandatory task for Grade A Disciples of the Medical School. Now, only she is doing it," Nian Qiuyan said with a smile. "Could it be that her fellow disciples in the Medical School are trying to slow down Yuezhen's cultivation speed this way?"
Mei Chengyu put his bandaged hands back into the medicine water. "One or two might be possible, but if none of them come, it's not just about slowing down her cultivation speed."
Cang Shu said slowly, "Although I'm not happy about it, she seems to have her own ideas. If she doesn't ask for my help, I can't act rashly."
After listening, Yu Sui's gaze turned back to Shi Yuezhen, who was standing by the medicine cabinet, opening drawers and looking at the medicines.
A few days ago, she was doing external cultivation outside the Medical School and saw many Grade D Disciples who had just joined. They were new and completely bewildered by the various medicinal materials, Nine Schools Techniques scars, and sequelae mentioned by the instructors.
They were all very busy, furiously taking notes in class or using Listening Wind Rulers to send messages to each other to record key points.
The next room was the class for Grade C Disciples. Injured disciples were brought to class by the instructor to personally demonstrate how to use Five Elements Qi to stabilize their injuries, while listening to the injured disciples cry out in pain.
The Medical School was indeed very busy, and the competition was fierce.
Shi Yuezhen's ability to reach Grade A Disciple and master the Medical School's Heavenly Secrets Technique already made her a top figure among the Taiyi Academy's Medical School disciples.
Would such a person still be isolated by other Medical School disciples? Yu Sui placed her hands on the table, crossed them, and rested her arms, tilting her head to look at Shi Yuezhen in front of her, and asked softly, "Sister Yuezhen, why have you been on duty at the medical hall for so long? Aren't the other Grade A Disciples coming?"
Shi Yuezhen, with her back to her, smiled gently. "They are busy cultivating and don't have time to come here."
"It's been almost two months, and aren't Grade A Disciples required to be on duty at the medical hall?" Yu Sui said softly, full of confusion. Shi Yuezhen turned to look at her, finding the girl burying her face in her arms as cute as a curious kitten.
"It's fine if they don't come. It hasn't been busy lately. If the medical hall gets too busy, I'll call for help," Shi Yuezhen said with a smile. "Besides, staying at the medical hall isn't bad."
Yu Sui looked at the Senior Martial Sister in front of her. She didn't seem like someone who would just endure being bullied. Instead, she had her own ideas, so Yu Sui didn't ask further, lest she arouse suspicion.
Shi Yuezhen prepared a bowl of calming herbal soup for her. Although her sleepless nights were due to the Strange Fire, Yu Sui still wrinkled her nose and finished the bowl of bitter medicine.
She didn't want to go back to the dormitory and face Gu Gan's group, so she lay down on the small bed in a private room on the first floor. She then took out the Listening Wind Ruler and asked Li Jinshuang, that unlucky fellow, when she would return to the dormitory.
Li Jinshuang was training in the Military Formation at the military school. Upon receiving Yu Sui's message, she pursed her lips and looked at it for a while before replying with a tap of her finger: "Morning."
"Then shall we eat together?" Yu Sui said, "I haven't gone back to the medical hall either. I'll wait for you at the dining hall after you're done."
Li Jinshuang hesitated.
She remembered Shu Chujun's words. Shu Chujun had said that the Saintess did not want to be too close to the Qingyang County Princess. The Qingyang County Princess had not done anything out of line, and there seemed to be no past grievances between them. Li Jinshuang didn't quite understand why this was the case. Shu Chujun glared at her and muttered, "The Saintess has rarely taken a liking to a man. Just as she started to develop feelings, the Qingyang County Princess, who has a deep relationship with Gu Gan, arrived. Do you still want to be friends with her?"
If that man were Gu Gan, Li Jinshuang felt the Saintess's taste was not very good.
Occasionally, when Li Jinshuang saw Gu Gan walking with Yu Sui or having a meal in the dining hall, she would think that this man would definitely not marry only one wife. If the Saintess liked him, what would happen to Nangong Sui?
Looking at Yu Sui's message, countless thoughts flashed through Li Jinshuang's mind. Although she didn't think keeping her distance from the Qingyang County Princess was the Saintess's intention, she still refused Yu Sui's invitation.
Li Jinshuang put away the Listening Wind Ruler. Clearly, she was the one refusing, yet she felt uneasy inside. She had decided not to look at the Listening Wind Ruler again, but she couldn't help herself.
She threw herself into the newly opened Military Formation, no longer thinking about these matters.
Instead of worrying about who the Saintess liked, it was better to think about her own sword spirit.
Although Yu Sui was rejected by Li Jinshuang, she wasn't too surprised.
When dawn broke, the heat from the Yi Huo subsided. Yu Sui fanned herself to cool down and heard Mei Chengyu coming down from upstairs. She lifted the curtain and went out.
Mei Chengyu's hands were wrapped in white medicated cloth, and his neck and other places under his clothes were also wrapped. The situation was eerily familiar, and Yu Sui couldn't help but recall that she had been in a similar state last month.
Yu Sui greeted him first: "Senior Martial Brother."
Mei Chengyu saw that she was still energetic, as if she hadn't slept at all, and asked, "You didn't sleep?"
"No," Yu Sui shook her head.
Mei Chengyu: "Didn't I prescribe medicine for you?"
"It might not work immediately," Yu Sui said, "You have to keep taking it."
Mei Chengyu examined her and said, "Then you should keep taking it."
Yu Sui nodded and walked out with him. She looked back at the medical hall, "Senior Martial Brother, are you returning to the dormitory? Do you want me to bring you some breakfast from the dining hall?"
"No need, I'm going back to change and then I'll leave. I won't be in the academy for the next two days," Mei Chengyu said lazily.
Yu Sui asked in confusion, "Where are you going, Senior Martial Brother?"
Mei Chengyu: "To accumulate points."
After he finished speaking, he suddenly remembered something, narrowed his eyes, and stopped walking. "The clothes you gave me are still at the medical hall. What, do you want me to wash them clean and return them to you, Junior Martial Sister, or buy you a new one?"
Mei Chengyu's words were somewhat playful.
Yu Sui shook her head: "It's fine if you don't want them."
Mei Chengyu: "They looked very expensive."
Yu Sui waved her hand generously: "It's okay, I have money. I don't mind buying any more."
Mei Chengyu thought to himself that he wasn't asking her to buy another one, but seeing Yu Sui's smiling face that clearly conveyed "I really don't lack this little money," he held back.
Yu Sui walked behind him and asked again, "Senior Martial Brother, do you like it? I can also..."
Mei Chengyu cut her off: "I don't like it."
Yu Sui blinked: "Oh."
Mei Chengyu pressed his tongue against his sharp teeth, enduring it for a moment, before finally speaking, "Spend less money on men, and more on yourself. I think the new dresses you bought are very beautiful. You should buy more."
Yu Sui smiled and said, "I also think the styles of the dresses this time are very beautiful."
Because she didn't want to go back to the dormitory and deal with Gu Gan, she parted ways with Mei Chengyu on the road and went to the dining hall to eat by herself.
The table was filled with dishes. Yu Sui calmly held her bowl and drank porridge.
The Listening Wind Ruler buzzed. It was Zhongli Que sending her a message, saying that she was taking Su Feng to the medical hall to see the Little Medical Saint today and they were on their way.
Zhongli Que said, "In a few more days, it will be my mother's birthday. She wants to invite Sister Chu to our mansion for a banquet. But I always feel a sense of unease, similar to how I feel about Nangong King. I'm afraid I'm being too suspicious, so I asked Second Brother Su to come with me to see if it's just me who feels this way."
Yu Sui, with a small piece of breakfast meat patty in her mouth, lowered her eyes to read the message and filled in the blanks with one hand: "Second Brother is with you now?" Zhongli Que, in the carriage, looked up at Su Feng, who was sitting opposite her. The man had shed his youthful immaturity. His once spirited and lively eyebrows now held a certain calmness, making him appear more steady and mature, yet still retaining a touch of youthful charm.
48 Chapter 48 (Page 2/2)
Su Feng had his arms crossed and was leaning against the window of the carriage, looking outside. Glancing at Zhongli Que's gaze, he raised an eyebrow slightly and looked back, "What did she say?"
Zhongli Que spread out the Listening Wind Ruler in her hand and honestly replied, "She's asking if Second Brother Su is with me."
Su Feng let out a light, unhurried hum and took her Listening Wind Ruler to reply to Yu Sui, "You only remember to ask if I'm here now?"
Finally, he asked Yu Sui how she was doing at Taiyi Academy, whether she was eating well and dressing warmly, and if Sheng Zui was throwing a tantrum at her again because of Gu Gan's matters, and so on.
After Yu Sui answered everything one by one, she told them about Qian Ying: "Yesterday, when I saw her, she was already a Grade A Disciple of the medical school at Taiyi Academy."
Zhongli Que gently covered her mouth, her eyes wide with surprise. The change was truly significant.
She also remembered Qian Ying, who was Gu Gan's sister that he had entrusted to Yu Sui to look after at the royal mansion.
The day after Yu Sui fell into the water, the news spread throughout the noble circles. When they were at the National Academy, many people discussed the matter.
The children who disliked Yu Sui because of Gu Gan would deliberately laugh loudly as they walked past her.
From that time on, Zhongli Que disliked Gu Gan, intensely. Yet, she knew of Gu Gan's connection to the Nangong family, and Yu Sui couldn't possibly be separated from him.
Gu Gan wasn't in the imperial capital then. Coincidentally, the next day, Yu Sui's elder brother, Han Bing, returned from Taiyi Academy. Han Bing was nineteen years old then, already a tall and upright adult man. He had always been mature and steady in his disposition, taking great care of his two younger brothers and sister.
After learning about this, he first beat up the aristocratic young masters who had instigated the physical altercation. A few days later, he outshone the Crown Prince at the royal hunt, earning the Qingyang Emperor's favor. The Emperor praised him repeatedly and bestowed upon Han Bing the bow and arrows that the Crown Prince desired.
Crown Prince Qingyang was so enraged that he left the banquet on the spot.
By the time Gu Gan returned to avenge Yu Sui, it was already too late.
Han Bing always told Sheng Zui to restrain himself and not to clash with Gu Gan so often, but Sheng Zui sometimes just couldn't control himself.
Su Feng felt that Sheng Zui was completely blinded by jealousy. When they were children, he was the child who liked Nangong Ming the most. As they grew up, Sheng Zui became the one who cared most about Nangong Ming.
When his two elder brothers were around, Sheng Zui could be kept in check. But after he went to Taiyi Academy and his eldest brother Han Bing was no longer there, Gu Gan arrived, and there was no one to suppress him anymore.
Sheng Zui later encountered Qian Ying at the academy. They also disliked each other at first sight. Especially during the time Qian Ying was on duty at the medical clinic, Sheng Zui would rather die of pain than go to her clinic.
He just couldn't stand seeing Qian Ying chase after Gu Gan, calling him "Brother Gu." It always reminded him of his own foolish younger sister.
During the Hundred Schools Night Walk Trial at the academy, they inevitably ran into each other a few times. With the accumulation of old and new grudges from their youth, Sheng Zui was often tricked by Qian Ying's medical pupil techniques. He absolutely detested Qian Ying; that crazy woman would do anything for Gu Gan.
Qian Ying's dislike for the Nangong family was largely thanks to Sheng Zui's "contributions."
Su Feng replied, "Your third brother is probably having a tough time, but don't worry about him. It's good for him to suffer a little."
Zhongli Que replied again, "Since Gu Gan brought Qian Ying to Taiyi, still has contact with Xiang Feifei, and is even cooperating with the Saintess of Nanjing Country, he's truly a philanderer!"
Yu Sui smiled, "Yes."
Zhongli Que indignantly pressed on the fill-in-the-blanks, "Sui Sui, you should show him some attitude!"
Yu Sui thought to herself that after Senior Martial Brother exposed Gu Gan's Mystic Technique, his life wouldn't be easy.
Zhongli Que said to Su Feng, "I'm really afraid Nangong King will marry Sui Sui off to Gu Gan."
"I definitely won't agree," Su Feng said.
Zhongli Que sighed, "But if Nangong King agrees to this kind of thing, it will be difficult to handle."
"You're worrying too far ahead," Su Feng said, raising an eyebrow slightly. "If Father really intended to do that, I'd be the first to assassinate Gu Gan."
He added in his heart that even if that day came, many people in the imperial capital would try their best to ruin the marriage. If the marriage couldn't be ruined, then the number of people wanting to kill Gu Gan would only increase.
Although Chu Jin's medical clinic in the imperial capital was in a bustling area, it was also quiet. This was because the surrounding shops sold calligraphy, paintings, and jade, and few people usually came. Those who did come were either wealthy families seeking novelty or regular customers.
After her clinic opened, this street became livelier, with people coming to the clinic for medicine or treatment every day.
Many of them were Nine Schools Practitioners. Chu Jin also treated ordinary people, so everyone praised her for her kind face and soft heart, calling her a Living Bodhisattva.
It was Su Feng's first time at the clinic. After dismounting from the carriage, he glanced at the plaque and then looked up, catching a glimpse of a white figure walking past the railing on the second floor.
In less than a moment, this white figure came down to the lobby and greeted Zhongli Que with a smile, "Miss Zhongli."
"Sister Chu, I've brought you a guest today," Zhongli Que said, standing beside Su Feng and introducing him. "I don't understand his problem either, so I've brought him here for you to take a look."
Su Feng calmly sized up the woman before him. She appeared to be around his age, with smiling watery eyes and the gentle and approachable demeanor of a medical practitioner. To have such a temperament, she must have at least cultivated medical pupil techniques and possessed strength no less than the Fifth Realm.
"Come this way," Chu Jin led them to a consultation desk nearby. As she tidied the table, her white sleeve brushed lightly across the surface, revealing a fair hand. While listening to Su Feng's account, her eyebrows and eyes were focused and serene, and her questions were meticulous.
Su Feng watched her write a prescription on paper and asked with feigned curiosity, "May I ask if Physician Chu usually uses pupil techniques to treat people?"
"Although I have cultivated pupil techniques, my skills are not proficient, and I would never dare to try easily," Chu Jin continued to write the prescription, her gaze fixed on the black ink on the white paper, but she smiled and said, "I usually just earn a little money to make a living."
Su Feng propped his face with one hand and asked with a smile, "I heard before that Physician Chu helped the King's Mansion with Lady Su's old illness. My concubine has been ill for many years. If it weren't for your proficient medical pupil techniques, one wouldn't even be able to enter the King's Mansion. Physician Chu must be too modest."
Chu Jin was taken aback. She looked up and glanced at Zhongli Que in confusion. Zhongli Que then said, "This is the Young Master of the King's Mansion."
"So it's the Young Master," Chu Jin then smiled gently, and immediately shook her head slightly. "However, although I went to the King's Mansion that day, I didn't see Lady. I suppose Lady found out my pupil techniques weren't proficient and that's why we didn't meet."
Su Feng exclaimed, "Wasn't it Lady Su who invited Physician Chu?"
"I only received an invitation from the King's Mansion," Chu Jin shook her head. "I don't know who sent this invitation."
She stood up and handed the prescription to a female doctor in the clinic to get the medicine. Standing at the corner of the stairs, she said to Zhongli Que and Su Feng, "The Massage Teaching Room is for women only. Young Master, it might be inconvenient for you to enter. Please wait here."
Zhongli Que said goodbye to Su Feng and followed Chu Jin upstairs to the second floor.
Su Feng remained seated, his gaze following the two of them all the way to the second floor. His expression was calm, showing no discernible emotion. After a moment, he shifted his gaze and carefully examined his surroundings.
Zhongli Que arrived in the room on the second floor, where several female doctors were preparing ointments for massage.
"So the invitation wasn't from Lady Su?" Zhongli Que asked curiously.
Chu Jin smiled and shook her head. "It really wasn't. At first, I heard that the King's Mansion had sent me an invitation for a consultation, and I thought it was the King County Princess inviting me on behalf of her mother."
Zhongli Que paused in her action of holding the medicine pot and lowered her gaze slightly.
It couldn't be Sui Sui.
"Later, I heard that the King County Princess had already gone to Taiyi Academy, so it wouldn't be the Princess," Chu Jin elegantly rolled up her sleeves and also adjusted Zhongli Que's sleeves, saying softly, "However, Lady Su has had an old illness for many years. As her only child, if the Princess hadn't gone to Taiyi Academy, she would likely have found someone to treat her mother."
Zhongli Que gently raised her eyes to look at the person adjusting her sleeves, pursed her lips, and remained silent.
The most foolish and regrettable thing she had ever done in her life was trying to make Yu Sui and Lady Su closer.
When they were both thirteen or fourteen years old, whenever Zhongli Que saw Lady Su and Yu Sui at banquets, she felt that their relationship didn't seem like that of a mother and daughter.
Why would Lady Su dislike Yu Sui when she's so adorable?
Zhongli Que even suspected Yu Sui wasn't Lady Su's biological child, but she was wrong. Yu Sui was indeed the child of Lady Su and Nangong Ming.
She felt Yu Sui was so wonderful that no one in the world could dislike her.
That year, the palace held a Flower Appreciation Banquet. The innocent and lively girls of the capital adored the triennial banquet, where fresh, exotic flowers cultivated from all regions were brought to the palace for them to admire and play with.
Two grand halls in the palace were filled with flowers of various colors. On the day of the banquet, practitioners from the Nine Schools would also give out Spirit Flower Seeds for people to plant.
After planting the Spirit Flower Seeds given by the practitioners and watering them, the flowers would bloom in fifteen minutes.
The palace had even specially prepared several acres of land for these children to plant flowers.
Because planting beautiful flowers for her mother made her mother smile happily, and other ladies were also delighted to receive flowers from their children, Zhongli Que had asked Yu Sui to get some Spirit Flower Seeds and then use the resulting flowers to cheer up Lady Su.
Yu Sui didn't think such a trick would work on Lady Su, but she was also quite interested in playing with the Spirit Flower Seeds from the practitioners, so she sowed a large patch and waited patiently.
Zhongli Que went to help her bring Lady Su and the others over.
The plan was going well.
Until a large patch of Golden Sunflowers with long stems and green leaves grew in the field, Yu Sui felt a prickling sensation on her scalp.
It was too late to destroy them and replant when she wanted to.
Zhongli Que brought Lady Su and the others over. Everyone was marveling at the lush and beautiful Qingkui flowers, praising County Princess Nangong. Lady Su stood frozen, her expression turning cold towards Yu Sui for the first time in public.
Yu Sui could only feign ignorance, pretending to know nothing, gently tugging at a flower stem and looking up at Lady Su with a docile expression.
Lady Su walked step by step towards Yu Sui in the flower field.
Zhongli Que only then noticed something was wrong. Before Lady Su could speak, a premonition flashed through her mind: Yu Sui being punished by kneeling again after returning to the royal mansion, Lady Su arguing with Nangong Ming with a cold expression in their room, and the dim yellow light of the night falling on Yu Sui's back as she knelt at the doorway, looking rather desolate.
She was shocked. How could this happen?
Lady Su reached Yu Sui, exuding a palpable pressure, and said to the girl before her, "You planted these?"
A hint of timidity appeared in Yu Sui's eyes. "I planted them with Spirit Flower Seeds. I wanted to give them to Mother."
Lady Su's eyes held a deep chill. With an unrefusable tone, she said, "Destroy them."
She added, "I don't like these flowers."
The other ladies sensed something was amiss and stepped forward to smooth things over, but Lady Su, showing no regard, simply flicked her sleeves and left.
The ladies present exchanged bewildered glances, unsure of what to do.
Zhongli Que felt incredibly frustrated. She looked at Yu Sui standing in the flower field. The vast expanse of Qingkui bloomed brightly and vibrantly. Yu Sui, also dressed in a Golden Long Skirt, was hidden among them, becoming the only somber note.
Lady Zhongli asked Zhongli Que to go comfort Yu Sui, then walked away with the other ladies, wanting to shield the children from adult gossip.
"Suisui, I'm sorry," Zhongli Que said, frowning with regret in her eyes. "I shouldn't have asked you to do this. It's all my fault."
"It's okay," Yu Sui smiled at her, then turned to break off the flowers. "Let's pull these out and plant something else. I don't like these flowers either."
Zhongli Que had been holding back tears, but seeing Yu Sui smile at her made her eyes instantly well up.
"I'm sorry," Zhongli Que's voice was choked with tears as she spoke, startling Yu Sui, who turned to look at her. "Why are you crying?"
Zhongli Que hated Lady Su, though she didn't understand why. But at this moment, she hated herself even more for making Yu Sui go through such an embarrassing ordeal.
Fourteen-year-old Zhongli Que finally understood. There truly were people in this world who disliked Yu Sui.
Not everyone in the world would like Yu Sui, but that was okay. She liked Yu Sui.
