Background & History

Sheng Zui was raised as a pampered young master of the Qingyang Prince's Mansion. His high status made him habitually judgmental and arrogant, especially toward people he considered beneath him. Before Yu Sui began seeking his help, he largely ignored her because he regarded her as weak and non-threatening. 22 110

His years at Taiyi were dominated by his rivalry with Gu Gan. Sheng Zui repeatedly tried to keep Yu Sui away from Gu Gan, framing his interference as concern for her future, while Gu Gan accused him of caring about Yu Sui only when she was connected to their conflict. This accusation forced Sheng Zui to confront how little he had understood his sister. 63 106 110

For years, Lady Su's Wuxiang Snake Phantom Beast Shadow secretly possessed him. Rather than directly controlling him, it magnified his anger, impatience, and urge to vent his resentment on others—particularly Gu Gan. His protectiveness toward Yu Sui is genuine but deeply flawed.
