Background / History

Kun Tong inherited Kunlun Fort, renaming it Kun Fort after taking control. Despite being publicly addressed as a Fort Lord, she is a second-generation heir: her father, Kun Xiong, remains Kun Fort’s true master and retains final authority over its full military power. Kun Tong can manage the fort’s resources, funds, and part of its armed strength, but cannot fully mobilize the fort without his approval. 91 105

She was introduced to Mi Feng and Zhang Hao by her best friend, Yin Zhifeng, at Chu Jiuying’s villa. Arriving in a physical body left her extremely hungry and irritable; she disregarded the ongoing meeting to eat barbecue and braised food. 91 92

Kun Tong quickly proved more valuable than her behavior initially suggested. She brought news of a possible next-generation Soul Forging Device and warned the group to stockpile top-grade mutton-fat jade. Her intelligence gave Yin Zhifeng and Chu Jiuying leads neither had obtained themselves. 92

Zhang Hao gained her favor by giving her a phoenix pendant carved from top-grade mutton-fat jade. She accepted him as a friend, invited him to visit Kun Fort, and shared information about potential teleportation technology. 93 Their relationship later developed into teasing familiarity, although Zhang Hao continued to find her troublesome and often avoided her invitations. 269 270

Appearance

In her physical body, Kun Tong is described as extraordinarily beautiful, with an appearance implied to result from genetic modification rather than a natural body. She favors luxurious ancient-style clothing and high-grade jade accessories. 91

  • Flowing ancient-style long skirt made from a lustrous, silk-like material. 91
  • Mutton-fat jade bracelets. 91
  • Immaculate white fox-fur collar. 91
  • Carries or wears top-grade mutton-fat jade items, including Zhang Hao’s phoenix pendant. 91 93
  • Often alternates between a physical body and a robot body; changing into a physical body causes intense hunger and discomfort. 91 94

Personality

Kun Tong is willful, indulgent, and accustomed to getting her way. She pursues food, entertainment, gambling matches, virtual games, and real cold-weapon war games with the enthusiasm of someone raised with immense resources. 91 269 She can be self-centered and impulsive, especially when she feels ignored or loses face. 91 304

Her childishness does not make her naïve about power. Kun Tong understands that true Fortress Lords cannot be coerced, recognizes the technological gap between Kun Fort and stronger allies, and retreats from battles she judges too dangerous. 104 113 317 She is also generous toward her circle, using her wealth to fund other second-generation heirs and readily lending Hong Guang money when he needed to hire reinforcements. 105 270

Although initially treating dangerous branch-planet expeditions as games, Kun Tong reacts strongly to cruelty. After finding a burned village and captured civilians during the “looting” game, she took command, pursued the responsible cavalry, and turned the outing into a rescue effort. 299 300

Abilities & Skills

Fortress Management

Kun Tong manages Kun Fort as its acting ruler, with access to substantial money, resources, robots, mechs, and military authority. Her control remains limited by Kun Xiong’s status as the true Fort Lord. 105

  • Renamed Kunlun Fort as Kun Fort after receiving it. 91
  • Can mobilize part of Kun Fort’s resources and armed force. 105
  • Holds super-VIP status at the fort market. 106
  • Owns a city on a subsidiary planet used by Space-Time Wanderers. 270

Intelligence Gathering

Kun Tong is notably well-informed and functions as a valuable source of restricted or emerging information among Fortress Lords. 92

  • Reported rumors of a next-generation Soul Forging Device and its possible dependence on mutton-fat jade. 92
  • Shared information concerning new teleportation technology. 93
  • Explained Free Star’s four major powers and their balance through mech duels. 272
  • Supplied Zhang Hao with recent intelligence and Fort Lord data after staying at Zhang’s Garden. 373

Soul and Body Control

Kun Tong displays refined coordination when inhabiting a physical body. Zhang Hao noted her precise catch of a jade token as evidence of strong control over both soul and body. 92

  • Maintains both robot and physical-body states. 91 94
  • Uses physical bodies despite their vulnerability, reflecting her extensive resources and confidence. 93
  • Can operate a humanoid mech for protection during combat operations. 113

Mounted Combat

During the branch-planet “looting” expedition, Kun Tong demonstrated overwhelming cold-weapon combat ability when equipped with auxiliary armor and a cloned horse. 299 300

  • Killed three charging cavalrymen in a single mounted pass, piercing each through the heart. 299
  • Defeated nine additional cavalrymen with spear and straight-sword techniques. 300
  • Cut four incoming lassoes and threw her sword accurately enough to decapitate a rider from over ten meters away. 300
  • Captured surviving cavalrymen for interrogation rather than killing every opponent. 300
  • Her strength, speed, armor, and weapons vastly exceeded those of local cold-weapon forces. 299 300

Limitations

Kun Tong’s personal technology and production capacity lag behind those of Yin Zhifeng, Mi Feng, and Zhang Hao. She can purchase advanced robots and mechs, but cannot independently manufacture or reverse-engineer comparable systems. 113 317

  • Her force in the Americas consisted of roughly 10,000 robots and 100 mechs, far smaller and less advanced than Yin Zhifeng’s army. 113
  • She withdrew from direct fighting after recognizing the enemy’s strength, focusing instead on safety and looting. 113
  • Zhou Leng judged Kun Tong suitable only for logistics in the interstellar campaign because of Kun Fort’s inferior technology. 317
