Name Space-Time Wanderer
Original Name 时空流浪者
Alias(es) Time-Space Wanderer; Time Wanderer
Classification A profession encompassing soul-capable travelers, bridgehead agents, and fortress masters—not a single individual 71 74.
Origin Main-timeline planets; people from branch planets cannot ordinarily become Space-Time Wanderers 80 256.
Occupation/Role Travel between historical periods and branch worlds, acquire resources and technology, and, at higher levels, administer bridgeheads and planets 74 80.
Physical Forms Biological bodies, cloned bodies, and soul-inhabited robots; some permanently merge with bridgehead intelligence 74 103.

Power Progression

Advancement depends on soul strength, technology, and access to bridgeheads. Becoming a Wanderer does not guarantee eventual promotion to Fortress Master 264 318.

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Temporary mechanical hosting — Zhang Hao 25 26 Inhabits a universal mechanical bug for up to two hours because of his weak soul. His first crossing strengthens his soul.
Beginner attached to an established Wanderer — Zhang Hao 54 Remains dependent on Mi Feng; establishing his own bridgehead is presented as his route to independent standing.
Main Bridgehead master — Zhang Hao 73 Successfully anchors his main bridgehead. His soul strengthens, soul–intelligence integration improves, and technological comprehension and robot control increase sharply.
Main-and-branch base established — Zhang Hao 76 77 Obtains his first branch planet and builds a planetary base with Mi Feng and Yin Zhifeng.
Lowest-tier Wanderers — Zhao Di and Qian Ji Hui 319 Complete soul-detachment and soul–body fusion trials, then spend half a year cultivating before field training.
Second soul metamorphosis — Zhang Hao 418 His soul becomes more refined and solid, showing signs of independence from his body.
Third soul transformation — Zhang Hao 448 Achieves the transformation after cybernetic implantation; his enhanced biological body becomes suitable for entering planets in new timelines.
Soul-crystal fusion and independent possession — Zhang Hao 460 Combines his soul with soul crystals and tests traceless soul travel. His third-transformation soul can possess another body while placing its original soul into hibernation.
Main-fortress control — Zhao Di 467 Acts as the main controller while a fortress in a new spacetime line hides within spacetime, with the alliance assisting.

Origins and Recruitment

Early Fortress Masters relied on human subordinates because intelligent robots did not yet exist. As automation improved, many subordinate Wanderers became unnecessary, contributing to a large population without fortresses. Some formed factions or recruited additional Wanderers 318.

Recruitment requires a sufficiently strong soul: relatives of Fortress Masters cannot become Wanderers merely through family connections. Candidates may learn soul cultivation, but soul transformation remains a major barrier to higher advancement 103 372.

Mi Feng and Yin Zhifeng initially searched for candidates capable of becoming Fortress Masters immediately. Zhang Hao proposed first training ordinary Wanderers, then promoting suitable individuals later. Zhao Di and Qian Ji Hui subsequently completed the necessary trials 264 319.

Hierarchy

Position Resources and authority Limitations
Space-Time Fortress Master / Main Bridgehead owner The rare “kings” of Wanderer society, with planetary resources, military forces, and industrial capabilities 80 98 264. Fortress Masters themselves differ greatly in technology; some cannot manufacture or even afford mechas 425.
Branch Fort Lord Administers a branch bridgehead and controls a portion of its planet’s resources 80 264. Ultimate control belongs to the main bridgehead’s owner; unsuccessful administrators may be replaced 80 264.
Specialist Wanderer Possesses valuable expertise and works for Fortress Masters, branch lords, or fortress heirs 372 373. Comfortable finances do not place specialists on equal footing with planetary rulers 373.
Ordinary Wanderer Travels, trades, works, and gathers resources toward obtaining better equipment or a bridgehead 80 264. Often lacks advanced soul residences, robot bodies, body-storage facilities, and cloning technology 373.
Unranked, bodyless Wanderer Survives with a soul entrusted to a robot 264. May be trapped in one location, with annihilation the outcome if its remaining refuge is destroyed 264.

Agents, Disruptors, and Hunters

  • Bridgehead agents — Humans selected by bridgeheads whose former owners have become soul-intelligence programs. Agents receive limited bridgehead access and may seek to build independent bridgeheads 74.
  • Space-time disruptors — Wanderers who destabilize spacetime in pursuit of their own bridgeheads. They are designated targets for elimination 74.
  • Space-time hunters — Specialists employed to hunt disruptors. Named hunters include the poison and assassination expert Du Yu and the captured hunter Ren Woxing 74 372 419.

Rules of Space-Time

Travel and Bridgeheads

  • An initial historical period can be chosen. A Wanderer may travel backward to establish a bridgehead, but that bridgehead subsequently moves forward with time rather than reversing 67.
  • Other bridgeheads provide access to other eras. Entering a bridgehead occupying a different historical period enables travel beyond the chronology of one’s own base 67.
  • Construction is a vulnerable period. Establishing a bridgehead commonly takes ten to twenty years; rival Wanderers choosing the same period can create a struggle for control 66.
  • A hidden main bridgehead protects its temporal segment. Once established within spacetime, other Wanderers cannot enter that segment by the same means 71.
  • Branch access can be purchased. With another branch bridgehead’s coordinates, a main bridgehead can establish a temporary beacon and enter its planet 74.
  • Elapsed time differs between locations. Zhang Hao spends twenty years establishing his bridgehead while only four months pass in his hometown 77.

Main-Timeline Restrictions

  • Historical interference is dangerous. Major changes can generate branches, weaken the responsible owner’s soul, and trigger temporal storms capable of destroying the main bridgehead 50 67.
  • The local owner bears the consequences. If a visiting Wanderer changes a main-timeline planet, its main bridgehead owner suffers the resulting instability 80.
  • Branch capacity is limited. Five or six branches are cited as a practical scale, with stronger souls able to support more—not an unlimited number 80.
  • Becoming a historical figure is taboo. Zhang Hao is warned against satellite deployment and conspicuous intervention on the Origin Planet 213.
  • Unauthorized interference may erase the offender. Those responsible can be annihilated unless sheltered within a bridgehead, while traces of the affected period disappear from the origin world 169.

Branch-World Restrictions

  • Branch worlds permit experimentation and warfare without the same temporal-storm consequences as altering the main timeline, although interference can still produce unpredictable developments 50 74.
  • Owners impose local rules. Visiting Wanderers may need contracts restricting government interference and commercial activity 435.
  • Entry does not guarantee escape. Superior opponents can trap a Wanderer on a branch planet by controlling access and technology 74.

Abilities & Skills

Soul Transfer and Body Replacement

A sufficiently strong soul can inhabit machinery or transfer between biological bodies 25 103.

  • Weak souls may have strict hosting limits; Zhang Hao initially lasts only two hours in a universal mechanical host 25.
  • Powerful souls can transfer directly into Soul Crystals without conversion equipment 71.
  • Clone bodies support long lives and changing appearances, but bodily survival is not equivalent to soul survival 429.
  • Fortress Masters identify one another by soul rather than face 372.

Soul–Intelligence Integration

Advanced intelligent programs provide computation, information processing, and technological control 36 73.

  • The computing power needed to establish a bridgehead requires a soul capable of accommodating a highly advanced program 36.
  • Integration supports rapid learning, detailed recall, and robot or fortress control 73 290 435.
  • Perfectly combining souls and intelligence in robots is a rare capability, not standard equipment for all Wanderers 74.
  • Excessive integration after losing an irreplaceable body can eliminate human emotions and permanently bind the soul to a bridgehead program 74 78.

Soul Cultivation and Perception

  • Soul Eye reveals souls and their fluctuations, assisting candidate selection. Prolonged use can cause dizziness and strain 256 264.
  • Meditation and purification techniques strengthen and refine the soul; Zhang Hao uses the Empty Clarity Technique for repeated compression and purification 355.
  • Artistic activity can influence soul cultivation, including Zhang Hao’s calligraphy and painting 316.
  • Soul transformation is a major developmental threshold that ordinary Wanderers often cannot overcome 372.

Technological Warfare

  • Robots and mechas supply protection, labor, reconnaissance, and military force; their quality varies sharply by owner 67 74 425.
  • Fortress Masters capable of designing and manufacturing their own mechas possess a major advantage over those dependent on purchases 425.
  • Mi Feng develops remote-control technology allowing an operator aboard a mothership to take over robots on a planetary surface 325.
  • The trio’s later biological implants enable direct mecha control from enhanced human bodies. This is their technological breakthrough, not a universal Wanderer ability 450.

Equipment and Soul Residences

Soul-Residence Technology

Technology Generation / position Function
Soul-nurturing jade First generation High-grade jade combined with complex technology to house souls; obsolete among advanced users but still used or collected 74.
Spirit-gathering device Second generation Successor to jade-based soul dwellings 74.
Soul-forging / Soul Casting Device Third generation A later generation of soul residence 74.
Soul Crystal Stone Comparable to third generation Performs similarly to soul-forging devices and supports soul collection and robot use 74.
Soul Crystal Major breakthrough Preserves souls while allowing growth; extremely rare and described as priceless 36 74.

Other Equipment

  • Conversion platforms — Facilitate soul transfer; later platforms permit soul return between spacetime lines even when physical bodies cannot return 407.
  • Light gates — Connect accessible bases, fortresses, and planets 77 87.
  • Body-storage facilities — Preserve physical bodies while their owners use robots; Free Star hotels provide “secret coffins” and robot rentals 271.
  • Auxiliary mechas — Protect and strengthen biological bodies without requiring full robot inhabitation 179.
  • Soul-residence destruction mechanisms — Intended to activate upon capture and prevent enslavement of a Wanderer’s soul 90.

Society and Economy

Resources and Inequality

  • Technology matters more than money. Even wealthy Wanderers cannot necessarily buy premium cloning, custom robots, top-tier mechas, or advanced soul residences 318.
  • Souls are the most valuable traded resource, especially purified souls capable of developing into mecha warriors. Soul Crystals are described as effectively unavailable for purchase 74.
  • Wanderer souls are unsuitable for ordinary purification. They retain memories and present security risks; their capture and exploitation are associated with particularly malicious individuals 90.
  • Fortress owners collect souls following deaths, particularly around hospitals and battlefields, rather than openly manipulating life and death on origin planets 90.
  • Ordinary humans are called civilians. Relatives brought into fortress society may be relocated to branch planets and barred from returning to their homeworlds 103.

Trading and Gathering Places

Location Role
Azure Fortress / Azure City Neutral trading hub with relatively inexpensive fortress entry. The actual marketplace occupies a branch planet and serves many lower-tier Wanderers 78 87 89.
Wei Fortress Neutral hub with high entry fees; trading visitors are generally at least branch-fort-lord level, while lower-tier Wanderers may enter as hired workers 78 103.
Free Star / Freedom Planet Scavenging and gambling destination. New cities have patrols, but the territory outside them is largely lawless 271 272.
Entertainment Planet project Planned open gathering place advertised without entry requirements, including permission to bring ordinary people; also intended as a recruitment and intelligence market 355 360.

Lifestyle and Relationships

Long lives make ordinary friendships difficult to maintain. Wanderers can replace bodies while mortal companions age and die; Zhang Hao consequently helps old friends without allowing himself to become too emotionally dependent on them 333 429 450.

Hobbies provide continuity across long periods and can calm a restless soul. Zhang Hao encourages Zhao Di to develop personal interests, while Mi Feng takes up wet-plate photography. Changing appearances also reduces the importance some Wanderers attach to physical beauty 249 266 290.

Alliances offer protection, shared research, and alternative bases. Mi Feng describes a lone Wanderer without support or collaborators as dangerously exposed, while the trio’s cooperation accelerates their technological development 77 208 317.

Notable Wanderers

  • Zhang Hao — Master of Haotian Fort; progresses from Mi Feng’s dependent beginner to an independent Fortress Master and advanced soul cultivator 54 98 460.
  • Mi Feng — Master of Secret Fort, controller of Slaughter Planet, and the alliance’s leading mecha-combat specialist 74 274.
  • Yin Zhifeng — Senior Wanderer and the trio’s strongest technological researcher, with particular expertise in biotechnology 54 74 317.
  • Zhao Di and Qian Ji Hui — Recruits who complete Wanderer trials and later help establish and guard a fortress in a new spacetime line 319 467.
  • Hong Guang — Branch lord of Dezong Fort who commissions assistance on the Doomsday Planet 105.
  • Zhou Leng — Lord of Snow Fortress; exchanges advanced technology and resource access for help against an alien invasion 316.
  • Zhao Zhifeng — Precision-machinery specialist who modifies mechanical and electronic equipment 372.
  • Sun Zhi — Designer specializing in fields including architecture, clothing, and robot and mecha appearance 372.

Major Threats

  • Soul destruction — Loss of the soul remains fatal despite access to replacement bodies; destroying a hunter’s soul-embedding jade can kill its occupant 419 429.
  • Loss of humanity — Irreversible fusion with bridgehead intelligence can preserve existence while removing emotions and independence 74 78.
  • Technological blockade and betrayal — Owners conceal their strongest technologies; Zhu Tong later attempts to coerce Mi Feng and Yin Zhifeng into surrendering Soul Crystals 74 468.
  • Fortress warfare — Capturing a planet’s surface can reveal its branch-fortress coordinates, opening a route toward attacking the main fortress 472.
  • Spacetime tides — During the crisis in Chapter 473, the trio predicts that branch planets may be lost and even main forts may not survive. Access to the new timeline fails, leaving Zhao Di and Qian Ji Hui separated from them despite continued messaging 473.
