"Quantum Mechanics Expert" Old Wang

Who am I?

What happened to me?

What am I supposed to do?

She was a blonde, blue-eyed woman.

It was obvious that she must have been beautiful when she was young—or rather, she must have been beautiful when she was alive. Now, though, she was terrifying. Yin energy clung to her, along with a force that did not belong to this world, dragging her toward the abyss of hell.

She stood there in a daze for several seconds. She looked at Old Wang, Skye, and Robbie standing before her, then at her surroundings, and finally at herself.

She reached out to touch a crate and the wall, but her hand passed straight through them.

An incredulous expression appeared on her face.

As if she had thought of something, she focused her mind and reached out again. This time, she touched the crate. She touched the wall.

"I'm Lucy, Lucy Bauer, Joseph Bauer's wife, a scientist at the Power New Energy Laboratory."

"We found that book. We learned how to create everything. We hired an engineer named Eli to build a Quantum Generator. We succeeded. We created a small piece of carbon out of thin air!"

"What does that mean?"

"We can create atoms, molecules, inorganic matter, organic matter—even life itself. This is God's forbidden domain!"

"Eli wanted that book. He wanted to be God. He attacked us. He used the Quantum Generator to turn us from something into nothing and altered our forms!"

"We became ghosts, became the ghosts from legends!"

"I have to get that book back. There must be a way in it to turn me human again!"

"I never wanted to be God. I'm a victim. I just want to be human!"

"It was all Eli's doing. I'm going to kill him!"

Lucy was furious, despairing, and crazed, before finally calming down.

She realized that her current state was highly unstable.

She could freely shift between corporeal and incorporeal states. That meant she could pass through all solid matter, attack all solid matter, and evade all attacks from solid matter. She had gained a terrifying power.

But her state kept changing. A strange force was pulling at her, trying to drag her somewhere utterly incomprehensible.

Was it hell, the abyss, another world, another dimension, or another universe?

Lucy did not know.

Instinctively, she rejected that unknown, mysterious place.

"My time is running out..."

The pulling force grew stronger and stronger. Daisy knew she had to act quickly.

"My secret cannot be known by others. My plan cannot be disrupted. Anyone who stops me or interferes with me must pay the price!"

Lucy looked at the three people before her and decided to teach them a proper lesson.

"You can't see me. You can't see me..."

Lucy drifted away, intending to circle behind them, find a fire axe, and scare these people off—or just kill them outright.

Then she saw Old Wang and Robbie turning their heads, one pair of black eyes and one pair of flaming eyes following her constantly as though they had automatically locked onto her.

Only Skye was completely in the dark, unable to see anything at all.

Still, the girl was quite smart. She immediately realized that some ghostly thing had appeared, and instantly became excited. Grabbing Old Wang's arm, she cried, "Where is it? Where's the ghost? Wang, can you make it so I can see it? Does it look as ugly as the ghosts in movies and TV shows?"

You're the ugly one. Your whole family is ugly... Lucy was furious.

What woman would be willing to hear someone call her ugly?

I'm not really that ugly, am I?

There aren't any mirrors here... And in my current state, I probably can't look in a mirror anyway, right? That's what novels always say!

Wait...

"You can see me?" Lucy was shocked.

That was not what the book said. That was not how it worked in movies, either!

So what if you could see her? Could they really hurt her?

Lucy's face twisted hideously, her complexion shifting between light and shadow, white one moment and black the next, as she transformed into a semi-corporeal form.

Recalling the descriptions from movies and novels, she raised both hands into claws and threatened them. "I'm going to kill you! I'm going to kill you! Come down and keep me company. Keep me company..."

No one paid her any attention.

Skye tilted her head up at Lucy, delighted. "There really is a ghost? Have you been to hell? What's hell like? Is there a three-headed dog guarding the gate? Are Satan, Hela, the Grim Reaper, King Yama, and Ksitigarbha there? Don't move, I'm taking a picture!"

Old Wang was exhausted.

Lucy, it's been several seconds already. Isn't your reaction time a little too slow?

Skye, those death gods aren't even from the same system. Aren't you afraid they'll start fighting if you lump them together?

Old Wang raised an eyebrow. "Not a ghost."

At least, not a ghost from World of Warcraft.

Ghosts in World of Warcraft only appeared after death. Aside from the soul itself, they basically all carried the aura of death. This one clearly did not.

She carried another kind of aura, one similar to Ghost Rider's—an aura from the Dark Dimension, from hell.

Old Wang tilted his head and thought for a moment before finally recalling the technical term. He looked at Lucy, then at Robbie, and asked, "Between dimensions? She's trapped between two dimensions, right? The Dark Dimension is constantly pulling at her? Could so-called ghosts actually be this kind of special form?"

That was entirely possible.

Didn't people say that after death, a person's soul lingered for seven days? They called it the "first seven," or something.

Could it be that souls lingered between dimensions, then completely vanished after seven days and went to another dimension?

Besides, some lingered for a long time, always for a reason—resentment and such.

Right, that fellow, the Spirit of Vengeance, had to rely on the desire for vengeance to remain in the physical universe. It was similar to resentment; both were emotions.

Emotions were good things. No wonder Lord Lu Wang could grow stronger through negative emotions. So it was not made-up nonsense after all—there was scientific basis for it...

Upon hearing Old Wang's words, Lucy was bewildered and stopped role-playing entirely.

Another dimension?

She recalled the theories of quantum mechanics, as well as knowledge in the Darkhold that neither she nor Joseph had been able to understand.

Looking at Old Wang again, Lucy hesitated for a few seconds. "Have you read the Darkhold? Are you a quantum mechanics expert?"

Skye was busy taking pictures with her phone. Hearing Lucy's words, she nearly burst out laughing. "A quantum mechanics expert? More like a fraud, right?"

Lucy froze. If he was not a quantum mechanics expert, then he must have read the Darkhold?

Robbie did not react much, but the Spirit of Vengeance within him stirred restlessly. Clearly, Old Wang was right.

Kill her! Kill her! the Spirit of Vengeance shouted.

Old Wang's face darkened. Skye was getting far too full of herself!

"Go back to monitoring S.H.I.E.L.D.!"

Old Wang snorted, then glanced at Robbie. His black eyes glinted dangerously. "Stop making trouble. She's useful to me alive!"

The flames in Robbie's eyes burned even brighter, as though his entire head were about to catch fire.

I'm making trouble?

You think I'm some ordinary ghost just because this evil spirit hasn't shown its power?

Kid, I'll fight you to the death!

"You changed hosts, and you haven't absorbed much desire for vengeance yet. You're too weak. Are you sure you want to fight me?" Old Wang shot him a sideways glance.

The Spirit of Vengeance immediately wilted.

Fine, fine. I, the great evil spirit, won't stoop to your level. I'll let you off this time.

"You've read the Darkhold? Did you take the Darkhold? No, the Darkhold is with Joseph. Among the living, only Eli knows about this! Eli sent you! He got the Darkhold! What did he do to Joseph?"

Lucy still had genuine feelings for Joseph. She shouted, "Give me the Darkhold right now! Where is Eli? I'm going to kill him!"

Thanks to Paper Man Zhang Squad for the 100 reward—the first reward for this book. A joyous occasion indeed!
