Matthew and Voldemort both hovered in the air.
"Matthew Black, I admit that you are the most outstanding wizard of your generation. You even remind me of myself in my youth. But to think you dared challenge me alone!" Voldemort laughed wildly.
Voldemort thought he must have been gone too long. This young wizard had no idea of his own limits, actually coming up alone to throw his life away.
Still, that worked in his favor. Once he dealt with this troublesome young man, he could fly straight out of here. He was not confident he could beat Dumbledore head-on and did not want to linger.
Besides, he had wanted to kill this young man for a long time. In the Forbidden Forest and at Hogwarts over the past few years, it had always been this young Black who ruined his plans.
He had come so close to getting the Philosopher's Stone that time!
"Those who know me consider me a calm, levelheaded person," Matthew said unhurriedly. "Why would I come after you alone if I didn't have the strength to back it up?"
"You?" Voldemort roared, and a streak of green light shot toward Matthew at tremendous speed.
An ordinary person would have had no time to react.
But Matthew did not even wave his wand. The rain around him became a thick sheet of ice, blocking the green light.
"The Killing Curse is very effective against humanoid creatures. Even an Iron Armor Charm struggles to block it, but it has one problem." Matthew raised his wand, turning the curtain of rain into a curved blade that interrupted Voldemort's casting. "It isn't very good at breaking through physical shields."
Voldemort quickly retreated, dodging the curved blade.
"Then try this!" Voldemort waved his wand again, firing a spell that glowed
