Background & History

Wang Zhi is the son of Wang Heng, a Five-Ring Soul King whose Summoning Book Martial Soul can call Soul Beasts into battle. Wang Zhi’s mother is Ling Lin, and he has a younger brother. He was sent to study in Hailu City at six years old and lived there alone while his father worked in Shrek City. 1 9 57

At his awakening ceremony, Wang Zhi manifested ten blank masks rather than a known conventional Martial Soul. The unusual Martial Soul was later identified as having undergone a Secondary Mutation and possessing a Summoning-type nature. 2 5

His apparent identity as a gifted human Soul Master concealed his true origin. General Yika later revealed that Wang Zhi is the King of the Black Shadow Kingdom. Before his birth, a conflict between supreme Immortals and Gods shattered space-time and dragged the Black Shadow Kingdom into chaotic space-time, separating Wang Zhi from his kingdom. 47

After learning this, Wang Zhi chose to establish his rule over the Douluo Continent. He ordered Yika to assume a human form so they could operate discreetly while building the Black Shadow Kingdom’s influence in the new world. 47
