History

Tang San was formerly an Outer Sect disciple of the Tang Sect, a sect known for hidden weapons and poison arts. After stealing secret techniques, he was pursued by Tang Sect elders and jumped from a cliff rather than submit to capture and torture. He later tells Tang Hao that he had been an orphan in that life. 86 168

As a five- to six-year-old in Holy Soul Village, Tang San rises before dawn to cultivate the Mysterious Heaven Skill and Purple Demon Eye. He cooks, cleans, and cares for the household while Tang Hao is alcoholic, distant, and neglectful. He also begins hammering iron ten thousand times at Tang Hao’s instruction in order to learn forging. 10 11

After awakening Blue Silver Grass, Tang San privately reveals a second martial soul—a black hammer—to Tang Hao. Tang Hao’s joyful response gives Tang San a rare experience of paternal affection, and he begins teaching him the Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer technique. 12

Tang San enters Notting Academy after Tang Hao reverses his initial refusal to send him away. Yu Xiaogang deduces that Tang San has Twin Martial Souls from his innate full soul power and Blue Silver Grass, prompting Tang San to formally kneel and accept him as his master. 19 21

Yu Xiaogang directs Tang San toward a Control System path for Blue Silver Grass, emphasizing toughness and poison. During the first soul-ring hunt, Tang San agrees to test Yu Xiaogang’s theory that a plant martial soul can absorb an animal soul ring. Tang San later reveals his reincarnation to Tang Hao. Tang Hao accepts that Tang San’s past-life memories do not negate their blood relationship, and tells him of Ah Yin’s sacrifice and Martial Soul Hall’s role in the family tragedy. Tang San’s resentment toward Tang Hao nevertheless grows after learning that Lin Ye’s campaign against him stems from Tang Hao’s past actions. 86

At the Clear Sky Sect, Tang San defends Tang Hao against the Seventh Elder, but is mocked and ostracized over Tang Hao’s history and his own perceived worthlessness.
