Background / History
Tang Hao was Tang Chen's grandson and the Clear Sky Sect's celebrated young genius. Tang Chen considered him capable of inheriting the Clear Sky name and brought him to Martial Soul Hall to represent the sect in a contest between their younger generations 15.
At the contest, Tang Hao entered as a Level 29 Soul Grand Master and overwhelmed Martial Soul Hall disciples Wang Yu, Li Ruifeng, and the higher-level Peng Yuan. He was particularly proud of the Clear Sky Hammer's superiority in direct clashes, and publicly derided opponents who relied on mobility or ranged tactics rather than confronting him head-on 16 17 18.
His winning streak ended when Yun Yuan challenged him. Tang Hao attacked with Titan's Hammer and Hammer Intent, but Yun Yuan defeated him with a single spear strike. Humiliated by Yun Yuan's returned taunt, Tang Hao vowed to repay the defeat 19 20. Tang Chen rejected Tang Hao's claim that carelessness alone had caused the loss, instead directing him to master the Clear Sky Sect's ultimate techniques and continue progressing 21 22.
A year and a half later, Tang Hao had become a Level 35 Soul Elder and brought the Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer to minor success. He defeated Yu Xiaokong of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, then immediately accepted Martial Soul Hall's challenge in order to face Yun Yuan again 49 50. Yun Yuan once more crushed him, enduring the seventy-first hammer of Tang Hao's ultimate technique before shattering the Clear Sky Hammer with Endless Battle Spear 51.
Despite remaining a Soul Elder, Tang Hao could fight opponents above his rank. He represented the Clear Sky Sect during the Soul Master Tournament, where he defeated an Elephant Armor Clan Soul Ancestor and gained wider recognition for his combat talent 72 75. He also participated in a private duel against Bibi Dong, who had been instructed by Yun Yuan to avoid meeting his Clear Sky Hammer head-on 76.
Tang Hao later accompanied Tang Zhen and Tang Xiao to watch Tang Chen's five-year appointment with Yun Yuan. He was openly jealous of Yun Yuan's advancement to Title Douluo at fifteen and hoped for Yun Yuan's defeat 161. Tang Chen was killed in the duel, and Martial Soul Hall subsequently annihilated the Clear Sky Sect. Tang Hao, Tang Xiao, and Tang Yuehua survived because they were away in Heaven Dou City; the destruction left Tang Hao grief-stricken and unstable 162 165.
Over the following years, Tang Hao cultivated obsessively in pursuit of vengeance against Yun Yuan. Although he initially only approached the Soul Saint realm after a decade of harsh training, he later reached the Soul Douluo realm alongside Tang Xiao 173 196. The Asura God selected Tang Hao to father a future inheritor and arranged for him to encounter a woman with exceptional martial-soul potential 196.
Driven by vengeance against Martial Soul Hall and Yun Yuan, Tang Hao sought a powerful partner to produce a descendant capable of inheriting Godhood. He accepted A-Zhu, a powerful Man Faced Spider Emperor, but was horrified to discover her true soul-beast form and their numerous spider offspring. He endured the relationship because of his revenge plans and because A-Zhu's strength surpassed his before he became a Title Douluo 200 202.
Tang Hao eventually killed A-Zhu to take her hundred-thousand-year soul ring, then massacred the Man Faced Demon Spider clan. The ring raised his cultivation by two levels and strengthened his Exploding Ring technique, but his obsession with revenge became increasingly ruthless 205 206.
He raised Tang San in secrecy and personally guided his cultivation after revealing that he was a Title Douluo. He intended for Tang San to inherit the Asura God's legacy and eventually oppose Yun Yuan and Martial Soul Hall 211 217 218. Tang Hao prepared a thousand-year Man Faced Demon Spider External Soul Bone and A-Zhu's hundred-thousand-year Man Faced Spider Emperor Torso Bone for Tang San, while also obtaining Man Faced Demon Spider soul rings for his son's first martial soul 222.
During a confrontation with Yun Yuan, Tang Hao detonated all nine soul rings and used the Great Sumeru Hammer to protect Tang San and escape. Although this briefly elevated his combat power to the Level 98 range, Yun Yuan secretly inflicted a lethal ice injury that left Tang Hao with only a few years to live 216 217 218.
A-Zhu was later resurrected and found Tang Hao. Seeking revenge for her murder, she tortured him and apparently killed him, informing him that both he and Tang San had been manipulated by Lord Qingtian 222 223 225. However, Tang Hao subsequently appeared alive at the Clear Sky Sect ancestral grounds, where he invoked Tang San's status as a God King and continued acting in support of Tang San's ten-thousand-year plan; the circumstances of his survival have not been explained 321.
Personality
Tang Hao was intensely proud of both himself and the Clear Sky Hammer. He treated direct confrontation as the only honorable form of combat, dismissing evasive or ranged strategies even when they were tactically effective 17 18.
His defeats to Yun Yuan became the defining source of his resentment. Although Tang Chen's guidance initially pushed him toward diligence and self-improvement, Tang Hao's desire to surpass Yun Yuan ultimately developed into a destructive fixation on revenge 21 22 50 205.
He was fiercely protective of Tang San. He intimidated Yu Xiaogang into properly training his son, intervened when Xiao Wu defeated Tang San, and risked detonating his soul rings to take Tang San away from Yun Yuan 211 216 217. He later stayed behind to delay A-Zhu and ensure Tang San could escape toward Slaughter City 224. However, his willingness to murder A-Zhu for power shows that this protectiveness was entangled with ruthless ambition.
Following the Clear Sky Sect's destruction and his relationship with A-Zhu, Tang Hao became increasingly unstable, hateful, and cruel. Even while being tortured by A-Zhu, he expressed no remorse for killing her and maintained that a hundred-thousand-year soul beast was unworthy of being his wife or a member of the Clear Sky Sect 205 225.
