  • After three thousand years of preaching, Bei Ming and Laozi both reached the Great Luo Peak, while many other cultivators advanced a stage.

  • Hongjun announced that the Primordial Wilderness needed leaders of male and female immortals, prompting cultivators to consider the authority and risks of the roles.
  • Di Jun judged that becoming an Immortal Chief could bring danger as well as power, while Dong Wangong saw the appointment as a way to rally Rogue Cultivators.
  • Hongjun considered the Immortal Chiefs potential pawns for curbing the Wu Clan and called Dong Wangong and Queen Mother of the West forward.

  • Di Jun realized the Wu Clan had isolated him and Tai Yi from potential allies, leaving them struggling against the Ancestor Wizards.

Ch. 44The Immortal Chief's Words Went Unheeded, and the Primordial Gourds Sparked Conflict

  • Dong Wangong proposed that each of the six remaining parties take one gourd, but the others rejected his attempt to assert authority as Immortal Chief.

  • Ming He called for the powers to settle the dispute by force, and Tongtian launched the first attack as the parties rushed toward the Gourd Vine.

  • Bei Ming arrived at Zixiao Palace and waited with Nüwa and Fuxi for Hongjun’s lecture to begin.
  • Hongjun explained that cultivators could reach Quasi-Saint by cutting off their Good Thoughts, Evil Thoughts, and Obsession corpses, and described how to transcend rather than suppress them.
  • Hongjun advised the cultivators to entrust their corpses to compatible Innate Spiritual Treasures, preferably ones aligned by origin or law.
  • Bei Ming concluded that the Three Corpses method borrowed support from the Heavenly Dao to aid law comprehension, though it did not replace genuine mastery of laws.
  • Bei Ming realized that the method might help him address a problem he would have to face.
