Background / History
Wang Mu transmigrated into the body of the Wang Clan's young master, a position backed by extraordinary family power: his grandfather is King Wei of the Great Xia Immortal Dynasty, while his grandmother founded the Langya Merchant Association. Yet his body carried an incurable curse that left him unable to cultivate, and his young-master position was at risk. 1
The original Wang Mu had a notorious reputation as a rake and villain. His past included crippling Lin Yan's cultivation and taking Lin Yan's Dao companion, leaving him surrounded by people with deep grudges and apparent “protagonist” destinies. After transmigrating, Wang Mu recognizes this danger and seeks to resolve such karma through investments and calculated assistance. 1 3 4
He gains the Supreme Investment System, which lets him invest resources in gifted individuals and receive proportional returns from their cultivation achievements. His first target is Wang Fugui, a Golden-Winged Peng with damaged origins but Divine Grade talent. 1
Wang Mu gradually changes public perception through aptitude-testing conventions, material aid, cultivation resources, and the Langya Foundation. He later establishes Langya Academy and compulsory cultivation academies, using education and investment to cultivate a broad base of lower-level cultivators. 11 14 95 221 253
Though he publicly continues to claim that he cannot cultivate, Wang Mu secretly advances at extraordinary speed. His power eventually becomes sufficient to suppress major enemies, oppose the Holy Arrival Meeting and Heavenly Devil Clan, and lead the Azure Yuan Realm into a new era. 297 433 446 463
Appearance
Wang Mu is commonly perceived as a refined, gentle, jade-like young man, sharply contrasting with portraits and rumors of his former vicious persona. 220
- Often appears composed and elegant even during public confrontations. 266
- Wears a white robe marked by nine golden lotus patterns; these bloom when his merit manifests. 354
- A silver moon divine pattern appears on his forehead during his later transformation, though it is concealed by his chaotic aura. 276
- Is frequently accompanied by powerful mounts, including a Golden-Winged Peng and a golden lion. 9 266
Personality
Wang Mu is pragmatic, strategic, and exceptionally patient. He approaches cultivation, commerce, public welfare, and conflict as connected long-term investments, often turning apparent disadvantages into leverage. His rivals repeatedly discover that decisions they dismissed as foolish were parts of larger plans. 40 61 111 162
He is highly conscious of reputation. Early on, he works deliberately to replace the former Wang Mu's infamy with an image of benevolence, while also recognizing that public trust can protect and empower his broader goals. 19 22 63
His philanthropy is not presented as purely selfless: he uses foundations, academies, investments, and public support to build loyal talent and influence for the Wang Clan. Nevertheless, his actions materially benefit vast numbers of ordinary cultivators. 221 243 253 255
Wang Mu is protective toward those close to him and prefers turning enemies into allies when possible. He considers annihilation a last resort, but acts decisively when hostility cannot be reconciled. 221 367 434
