Background and History
Pakura has fought for Sunagakure since she was seven. Her service against Iwagakure and Kirigakure earned her considerable prestige among the frontline troops 4 7. When Cloud Ninja attacked the border, she commanded the defense; her forces fought more than a dozen engagements and suffered heavy losses despite her ability to hold off two enemy Elite Jonin 1 16.
She initially distrusted the medical ninja Hoshino Maki, believing he sought attention and would cause trouble 16. Her view changed as they worked together. She accompanied his mission to Amegakure, later chose his unit over Rasa’s for a troop deployment, and collaborated with him on military planning against the Stone Ninja 23 48 96 133.
During a Stone Ninja surprise attack, Pakura drew pursuers away from retreating Sand Ninja. Hoshino Maki subsequently found and healed her 100 101. Their partnership became romantic; their engagement was announced in Sunagakure’s newspaper 207 213.
Pakura later entered the fighting in the Land of Birds against Moyuzi’s orders. After pursuing and defeating retreating Stone Ninja, she told Moyuzi she wanted to leave her battlefield life behind and build a family with Maki 234. The film Desert Rose, starring her disciple Kozuki as Pakura, presented her as a hero after she stepped away from active ninja work 256. She nevertheless later led Sand Ninja troops toward Konoha, eager to witness its capture 322.

Her relationship with Maki reveals a more hesitant side. She worries about her charm, seeks Kozuki’s help with her appearance, and becomes flustered by their engagement announcement 205 213. She can also be calculating: despite her own misgivings, she agrees to Yūhi Kurenai marrying Maki after considering the political scrutiny his household might face 217.
