Realm Mechanics
Breakthrough
After forging the Primordial Spirit, a cultivator can perceive the Gate of Myriad Wonders. With sufficient accumulation, they force open this gate and enter the Dao Embryo Realm. The gate is described as the root of Heaven and Earth, the source of all things, and a passage through which one is bathed in the origin of Heaven and Earth. 28 114
The breakthrough severs the cultivator’s former state of complete unity with Heaven and Earth. Their body, cultivation, and Primordial Spirit are transformed by primordial qi and origin; the Primordial Spirit develops from a chaotic seed into an infant-like form, whose apparent age corresponds to the realm’s Heaven level. 221
The process is dangerous because it is likened to birth. A pre-Dao Embryo cultivator remains protected by, yet dependent upon, Heaven and Earth; opening the Gate of Myriad Wonders means leaving that protection and facing the unknown independently. 137 155
The “Birth” Analogy
Before this realm, cultivators are compared to unborn fetuses within the womb of Heaven and Earth: they depend on it for survival and cannot truly oppose its power. A Dao Embryo cultivator is compared to a newborn who has cut the umbilical cord, gained independence, and acquired the basic ability to resist Heaven and Earth. 28 70 155
This transformation marks the beginning of “transcending mortality and entering sainthood” in the Great Heaven World’s Martial Dao. In many lower-level martial worlds, an equivalent breakthrough is known as Shattering the Void. 70
Dao Embryo Quality
| Quality | Requirements / Characteristics | Future Potential |
|---|---|---|
| Common Dao Embryo | The most common and simplest type to condense. 115 | Cultivation is permanently capped within the Dao Embryo Realm. 115 |
| Perfected Dao Embryo | Requires a sufficient foundation in the Earth Law Realm and resonance with Heaven and Earth. 115 | Grants the potential to reach the Dharma Aspect Realm. 115 |
| Great Perfected Dao Embryo | A higher-grade Dao Embryo that can directly begin from the Fifth Heaven or higher. 115 | Allows the later fusion of Dharma Aspect and Dao Embryo into a Law-Body Dao Embryo; qualifies one to advance toward the Cave True Realm and offers a slim chance at Pure Yang. 115 |
| Perfect Dao Embryo | Also called the Pure Yang Dao Embryo. It requires comprehension of the Heaven Law Realm and the condensation of a nascent form of Dao. 115 | Represents the highest Dao Embryo quality and grants potential for Pure Yang Dao attainment. 115 374 |
Law Realms and Quality
The Dao Embryo is a materialized manifestation of a cultivator’s understanding of Heaven and Earth’s principles. Its quality depends on the cultivator’s Law Realm before and during condensation. 115
- Human Law — Centers on the heart and establishes an unshakable Dao Heart. 158
- Earth Law — Produces Heavenly Human Resonance, through which Heaven and Earth continually refine the cultivator’s Dao Body. Greater comprehension produces a Dao Embryo more closely aligned with Heaven and Earth. 115 158
- Heaven Law — Requires one’s heart to become the Heavenly Heart and one’s Dao to become the Heavenly Dao. It is necessary for condensing a Perfect Dao Embryo. 115
A cultivator seeking a flawless Dao Embryo must go beyond merely conforming to Heaven and Earth. They must transform themselves into “Heaven,” causing Heaven and Earth to conform to them instead. 158
Inner and Outer Gates of Myriad Wonders
The Gate of Myriad Wonders has both internal and external aspects.
- Inner Gate — Located within the human body, at the Mud Pill Palace or Mysterious Pass One Aperture. It can be opened through the Lesser Three Unifications of Essence, Qi, and Spirit. 145 158
- Outer Gate — Rooted in Heaven and Earth. It requires the Greater Three Unifications of Heaven, Earth, and Man. 145 158
- Perfect Dao Embryo foundation — Requires the inner and outer gates to be opened in unity, merging the Lesser and Greater Three Unifications. 158
He Heng created Taiji Six Unifications as a move intended to unite these six principles and support the condensation of a Perfect Dao Embryo. 158
Abilities & Characteristics
Independence from Ordinary Sustenance
Dao Embryo Realm cultivators can achieve true Bigu: they may consume wind, dew, and primordial qi rather than relying on ordinary food and water. This grants the initial ability to survive independently in harsh environments and contend with the forces of Heaven and Earth. 41
Absorption of Primordial Qi
Ordinary ambient spiritual qi is insufficient for Dao Embryo Realm cultivation. Cultivators require purified primordial qi, usually obtained through the breathing and absorption methods of major sects. 223
- Nascent Soul Pill — A pill that supplements spiritual qi; one pill is equivalent to roughly a year of Dao Embryo Realm breathing and absorption, while requiring only one day to refine. 223
- The purity of primordial qi extracted depends on the profundity of the cultivator’s cultivation method. 223
Dao Body Development
The Dao Embryo contains a cultivator’s understanding of dharma laws, integrated into their flesh and blood. As cultivation progresses, the Dao Embryo matures and the body increasingly displays non-mortal qualities. 375
The eventual fusion of Dao Embryo and Dharma Aspect produces the Dharma Body Dao Physique, in which the cultivator’s body and Heaven and Earth are united more completely. 251 375
Status in the Great Heaven World
The Dao Embryo Realm is the first realm at which a cultivator is treated as a true person with independent status and “human rights.” Those below it are still regarded as dependent mortals. 113 155
- Dao Embryo Realm cultivators are considered the mid-level personnel of major sects. 113
- In the True Martial Sect, reaching the realm permits a disciple to apply for stewardship and enter Taihe Cave Heaven. 113
- Taihe Cave Heaven is the True Martial Sect’s true base camp; disciples below the Dao Embryo Realm ordinarily cultivate in the outer sect at Immortal Chamber Mountain. 113
- The realm is rare despite being an intermediate stage. The entire Great Heaven World has fewer than ten million Dao Embryo Realm experts, with the human race accounting for only roughly one to two million. 179
- The True Martial Sect is estimated to possess approximately ten to twenty thousand Dao Embryo Realm experts. 179
Limitations
- Breaking through is a life-and-death ordeal; even a Primordial Spirit Realm cultivator may lack the courage to sever dependence on Heaven and Earth. 137 155
- A Common Dao Embryo permanently limits its owner’s future advancement. 115
- Dao Embryo Realm cultivators remain fundamentally inferior to Dharma Aspect Realm experts. Even the strongest Dao Embryo cultivator cannot normally cross the qualitative gap between the two realms. 314
- The Nine Heavens Secret Realm permits only Dao Embryo Realm entrants because, in ancient times, beings were born at this realm and reached adulthood after surpassing the Eighteenth Heaven. 188
