Tonight, Anduin got dressed and prepared to go out. He had to go to Professor Flitwick's Spell Club.
Following the address on Professor Flitwick's invitation, Anduin arrived at a mural on the eighth floor of the Main Tower. It was said that the meeting location was arranged here mainly because it was close to Ravenclaw's Head of House office.
"Password!" the knight on the mural asked Anduin.
"Unicorn," Anduin recited the password from the invitation.
"As you wish." The knight on the mural nodded and moved aside, revealing the door.
The interior of the room was arranged like an ordinary classroom, but the walls on both sides were lined with bookshelves. The dense collection of books made it more like a library. It contained over a dozen tables and chairs made of velvet material, and the blue carpet and curtains were very much in the Ravenclaw style.
Quite a few people were already waiting inside, chatting softly amongst themselves.
"Anduin, what are you doing here?" Vanessa was very surprised to see Anduin appear. She had been invited to join the club in her third year and was very proud of it, as no one had ever joined in their first year, and very few in their second. Being invited by Professor Flitwick in her third year meant she was highly valued.
"This isn't a place you can just enter. Hurry and leave before the professor arrives, so you don't get into trouble and anger him," Vanessa said, initially thinking Anduin had wandered in behind a member.
Anduin was slightly taken aback when he saw it was Vanessa, but quickly smiled. "Prefect Greengrass, you've misunderstood. Professor Flitwick invited me to the Spell Club."
Anduin smiled and took out the club invitation given to him by Professor Flitwick, waving it in front of Vanessa.
Vanessa saw that Anduin did indeed have an invitation, but she still felt something was off. Normally, first and second-year students were still focused on basic studies. How could someone join this club just a few days after enrolling?
Then, Vanessa quietly said to Anduin, "Perhaps Professor Flitwick has a special intention. But this is no easy class where you just listen. Here, you need to complete assignments given by the professor, sometimes participate in academic discussions, and even assist the professor with some research."
"Don't worry, senior," Anduin interrupted Vanessa softly. "The professor already explained the specifics of the club to me beforehand. I assure you I won't hold you back."
Beforehand, Anduin had already inquired about the Spell Club from Professor Flitwick. Specifically, it was a small research group, and the relationship between students and the professor was like that of postgraduate students and their supervisors. Professor Flitwick's teaching and research difficulty for students was actually divided into three levels.
The first level was the content learned by ordinary students. The second level was for those who achieved an 'E' or 'O' in their fifth-year exams and were admitted to Professor Flitwick's Advanced Spell Class, which also existed in other subjects. The third level was the Spell Club he founded. Those who could appear here were generally recognized by the professor for their talent in spells, and they often had to study and research content that went beyond school exams.
Vanessa could see that Anduin was very composed, so she didn't say anything further. She simply led Anduin to a seat to wait.
Soon, Professor Flitwick also entered the room. Seeing Anduin arrive on time, he smiled at him and said, "Anduin, I'm very happy to see you. Our conversation that day gave me a lot of inspiration and ideas."
Everyone in the room, upon seeing the professor enter and speak enthusiastically with a junior student, felt very curious and all turned their heads to look at Anduin.
Anduin had always disliked being too conspicuous, especially when surrounded by students at least two years his senior. But seeing Professor Flitwick's enthusiasm, he could only stand up and greet the professor. "Hello, Professor. It's my honor. Your guidance has also cleared up many of my doubts."
Flitwick smiled and nodded, then walked to the podium at the front of the room and sat on his specially made high-backed chair. He looked around and said, "It seems everyone is here on time. Now, let's begin our first meeting of the Spell Club for this academic year."
"First, we welcome our new member, Shirley Rensert, a fourth-year student from Hufflepuff." Shirley, upon being called, stood up and nodded slightly to everyone. Welcoming applause erupted around them.
"Next is Quirinus Quirrell, a fifth-year student from Ravenclaw." Quirinus Quirrell was visibly nervous, rubbing his thighs with his hands and awkwardly standing up to greet his classmates. Everyone gave him encouraging applause.
"Finally, I'd like to introduce Anduin Wilson, a first-year student from Slytherin House."
After hearing the introduction of the previous two, Anduin finally understood why Vanessa thought he couldn't possibly be here. The two fourth and fifth-year students had only just been invited to join, but there was no point thinking about it now. He could only stand up and nod to everyone.
Everyone around looked at Anduin in astonishment. A first-year? He had only enrolled a few days ago? Was he Professor Flitwick's own son?
For a moment, the senior students around were stunned, even forgetting to applaud. It was Professor Flitwick who started clapping first, and only then did the others react, suppressing their curiosity and applauding.
After the introductions, Professor Flitwick quickly got down to business. Without explaining anything, he cleared his throat and said, "Today is our first meeting of the academic year. I hope our new young wizards can get into the groove faster. Now, I will announce this year's research topics."
Immediately after, the professor took out his wand and lightly tapped the air. Words quickly appeared on the whiteboard next to his seat.
First, Silent Spell: Research direction for rapid mastery techniques or methods.
Second, Wandless Spellcasting: How to achieve wandless spellcasting from scratch.
Third, Development and research of Temperature Control Spells.
Fourth, Development ideas and application directions for Sonic Spells.
Fifth, Formation of spell incantations through the interpretation of Ancient Runes, and the evolutionary process of spells from multiple countries.
Sixth, Finding high-quality materials for carrying the Extension Charm and extreme value data experiments (research continues from previous years, current optimal material: Goblin Urim Steel, secondary high-quality materials: 37 types).
Seventh, Quantification of Magic Sensitivity and techniques for improvement.
