"It's not impossible." Nick toyed with his shoulder-length hair, then gathered himself. "No, I'm almost certain Haierbo didn't die just like that."

"Things were very complicated back then. Even now, I still don't understand all the details."

"In the Wizarding World of the Middle Ages, there was little communication between wizard communities. The various branches of magic weren't nearly as numerous as they are now. Many communities didn't even have a concept of nations or collective identity, and institutions like the Ministry of Magic didn't yet exist. Countless wizards lived scattered across the land."
