Viscount Dennis welcomed the idea and had no intention of objecting.
He had already learned about Plague Undead and Zombies. The stronger these aberrant monsters had been in life, the stronger they became after transformation—or, as Awakeners would put it, their templates did not change.
Matriarch Cynthia had been a Rare Boss, after all. She was bound to be a formidable boss as a mutated Zombie. Better to leave her to Bai Xiaowen than have the Imperial Army bury her under soldiers' lives. Everyone won.
Under Viscount Dennis's command, the Imperial Army split the battlefield with practiced coordination.
It was not just Matriarch Cynthia. The two priestess bosses beside her, Marcia and Alba, had also become Zombie bosses, and all three were left to Bai Xiaowen.
Dennis also wanted to see what Bai Xiaowen could do. The three Zombie bosses were slightly weaker than they had been in life because they lacked intelligence, but their raw strength remained intact. Together, they would be quite troublesome. Even the otherworldly powerhouse His Majesty was said to value—Lord Dio Skalboom—might have a hard time with them.
Bai Xiaowen saw right through Dennis's little scheme.
Barely more than half Dennis's age, Bai Xiaowen was still a teenager, yet he was already the lawful ruler of all Northland Province and was about to receive a count's title from His Majesty. Nobles throughout the Imperial Capital envied him. He was the very picture of youthful success.
And Dennis knew even more. His Majesty had made Dio a greater promise: once they won the campaign against the Plague Lord, Bai Xiaowen would be promoted straight to Duke of White Stone! He would finally hold a title befitting the ruler of Northland.
A duke before twenty. It was almost frightening. And he had not inherited the title, either.
