Silver Moon Returns
Just as Huo Yuhao brought Jin Li to this era ten thousand years in the future, an old friend also arrived in Shrek City.
The figure was shrouded in a large white robe, with the brim of the hat pulled low, obscuring most of the face, revealing only a pale chin and a few strands of silver hair.
She walked slowly through the newly built district of Shrek City, and finally stopped in front of the ruins of the Shrek Academy.
There are no intact buildings left here today; only ruins remain.
Even so, many people still come to visit, after all, this is the site of what was once the first academy on the continent.
The figure in white robes walked through the ruins and went straight to the Sea God Lake, his gaze settling on the still clear surface of the lake.
Her aged eyes gradually reddened, and she stood there quietly, as if she could see some scenes from the past through the lake.
A gust of wind blew by, gently lifting the wide hood to reveal a weathered face.
His white hair was piled up at the back of his head, revealing a face etched by the passage of time.
The pain in her eyes slowly receded like the tide, replaced by a look of excitement.
Her lips moved slightly, and finally she murmured, "I knew it... I knew it!"
After a moment, she sensed her surroundings and, confirming that no one was paying attention to her, leaped into the Sea God Lake.
She slid downwards, her figure passing through layers of shimmering water and shadows, finally stopping at a certain point on the lakebed.
It was a stone wall covered with silt and gravel, looking no different from the rest of the place.
She searched around for a while, then reached out and gently pressed a spot on the stone wall. A metal frame slowly rose from inside the stone wall, emitting a low and steady mechanical sound.
She darted inside and pressed a button. The metal door slowly closed, and the entire structure began to slide down, taking her into a deeper underwater space.
After a while, as the low, mechanical whirring sound gradually subsided, the metal door opened again.
The figure in white robes stepped out, his feet landing on solid ground.
This place is clearly deep underground. A few Soul Guidance Lamp are sparsely lit overhead, their light dim and cold, barely illuminating a few steps ahead.
Even so, it is still possible to vaguely discern that this underground space is quite large, with passageways extending to both sides, and several tightly closed metal doors and neatly arranged pipelines that can be seen in the distance.
"Who goes there?!"
A deep, stern voice suddenly erupted from the shadows, followed by a massive, jet-black scythe slicing through the air.
The blade was cold and sharp, slashing straight at the figure that had just emerged.
Xu Yucheng was in charge of guarding this entrance and exit today, and he remembered clearly that no one from the Shrek Academy had gone out today.
Who are these people who have appeared here at this moment? Has this Underground Shelter been exposed?
He slashed out with his sword, showing no mercy, but the white-robed figure merely raised two fingers and seemingly casually pinched the menacing scythe between them, rendering it completely immobile.
Xu Yucheng's expression changed drastically as he instantly realized that he was no match for his opponent. He was about to ask for help when his opponent spoke first.
"Soul Emperor, not bad." The man's voice was old yet steady. "I am also a member of Shrek."
She looked up, and under the dim light of the Soul Guidance Lamp above her, Xu Yucheng finally saw her face clearly.
It was an aged face, with white hair piled up behind the head, and the brows etched with the marks of time, yet the eyes remained clear and bright, as if they held something that had not been extinguished after weathering many storms.
Xu Yucheng frowned; he had never seen this face before.
However, the fact that his opponent, despite being incredibly strong, didn't try to kill him made him slightly less wary.
He withdrew his martial spirit, his tone still cautious, but no longer as cold and hard as before. "Senior's identity needs to be verified."
The old woman nodded and said calmly, "That's natural."
A short while later, a series of hurried yet steady footsteps came from the distance of the passage.
A figure hurried over, dressed in white that stood out in the dim light. The person exuded a cold and aloof aura that kept people at a distance. It was Wu Changkong.
After receiving Xu Yucheng's urgent message, he immediately put down what he was doing and rushed over. When his gaze fell on the white-robed figure beside Xu Yucheng, he couldn't help but be slightly stunned.
Wu Changkong walked to Xu Yucheng's side and stopped. His gaze fell on that aged yet familiar face. He was silent for a moment before speaking, "Elder Cai, I didn't expect it to be you back."
The "Elder Cai" he mentioned was naturally the Silver Moon Douluo Cai Yue'er.
Years ago, she was dismissed from her position Dean of the Outer Court by Yun Ming for mishandling matters related to Huo Yuhao and others, and was ordered to reflect on her mistakes in seclusion for a year.
However, a year later, she was not reinstated. Instead, Yun Ming sent her to be stationed in another region, which meant she faded out of Shrek's core management team.
That's why Cai Yue'er was able to escape the disaster that destroyed Shrek Academy.
Over the years, Cai Yue'er has lived in seclusion in other places under an assumed name, and has had almost no contact with any old friends.
She is someone who has Shrek's glory etched into her very bones, and she is always thinking about rebuilding that academy.
But after these years of reflection, she has become much more composed than before, and she has never acted rashly before fully understanding the specific situation.
Until recently, when she heard the news that Na'er had defeated the Abyssal Sage King in the Far Western Lands, she felt that it was time to take action.
So she returned, returned to the land she once protected, returned to the now-ruined Shrek Academy.
As the former Dean of the Outer Court, she naturally knew about the underground shelter within the academy.
After some investigation, she indeed found clues. There were still survivors from the Shrek Academy. Now, she finally met her old friends from the Shrek Academy underground!
Wu Changkong had previously harbored resentment towards Cai Yue'er. It was this dean of the outer academy who had publicly pressured him and his students. If it weren't for the timely arrival of the Holy Spirit Douluo Ya Li, he and those children would probably have been bullied by Cai Yue'er.
That incident was like a thorn that lingered in Wu Changkong's heart for a long time.
But now that Shrek Academy is destroyed, those grudges and resentments seem less important amidst the ruins.
The return of Cai Yue'er, the Super Douluo, is undoubtedly a good thing.
Wu Changkong was not one to dwell on old grudges. He suppressed those past emotions in his heart and regained his composure.
Cai Yue'er looked at him and asked, "Who's in charge here now?"
Wu Changkong answered truthfully, "It is Elder Long."
Upon hearing this, Cai Yue'er's eyes lit up, and her voice was filled with barely suppressed excitement. "Elder Long is still alive?!"
She naturally knew that the "Elder Long" Wu Changkong mentioned was Long Yeyue. With this Limit Douluo in charge, Cai Yue'er felt that the hope of rebuilding Shrek Academy was much greater.
She immediately said, "Take me to see Elder Long."
Wu Changkong nodded, gave Xu Yucheng a look, signaling him to continue guarding the entrance, then turned and led Cai Yue'er deeper into the passage.
The two walked one after the other through the underground space, their shadows stretched and shortened on the wall by the dim light of the Soul Guidance Lamp.
Along the way, Cai Yue'er saw many familiar figures, both from the Inner Court and Outer Court.
Although almost all the academy's teachers had perished, seeing the resilient expressions on these young faces after the disaster rekindled a spark of light in Cai Yue'er's heart.
With these students around, she felt that the academy in her heart was still there.
Its buildings may crumble, its flags may fade, but as long as these people remain, the spirit of Shrek will never dissipate.
