Background / History

Shrek Academy is hailed as the continent's number one academy and a sacred destination for countless Soul Masters. Its legacy is described as spanning ten thousand years in some accounts and twenty thousand years in others. Its graduates are spread throughout the Federation's military, political, and commercial spheres, forming an extensive network of mutual support. 43 74 291

The academy is based in Shrek City, a free city at the convergence of the Heavenly Soul, Dou Ling, and Star Luo empires. Shrek governs the city, occupies its eastern district, and faces the Star Dou Great Forest. The Outer Court occupies the area that was Shrek City ten thousand years earlier. 66 201

Shrek's reputation suffered a public blow when its Youth Elite Team lost a five-man exhibition match to Eastsea Academy's Class Zero at the Heaven Sea Alliance Tournament. The Sea God Pavilion convened over the loss, treating it as a matter with potentially far-reaching consequences for the academy. 86 89

After Huo Yuhao resonated with the Golden Tree, senior elders attempted to retain him at the academy for its safety. The decision drew opposition from the Spirit Pagoda, Zhen Hua, and ultimately Beast God Di Tian; Huo Yuhao was released. 237 240 244 245

The Holy Spirit Cult later destroyed Shrek Academy and much of Shrek City. Half a year afterward, surrounding residential districts were being rebuilt, but the academy grounds remained scorched and abandoned. 319 334

Although its surface facilities were annihilated, the academy's legacy survived. Many teachers sacrificed themselves to shield students during the assault, while an extensive underground shelter beneath the academy concealed surviving students from the outside world. Heaven Sea Alliance Tournament

Class Zero publicly challenged Shrek Academy through the Heaven Sea Stadium broadcast system. Shrek accepted, fielding its Youth Elite Team against the Eastsea Academy students. 79 82

Shrek lost the exhibition match after all five team members were eliminated. The defeat caused shock among spectators and became a major topic across the Soul Master world. 86 87

To contain the reputational impact, Ya Li negotiated for the five Class Zero students to formally enter Shrek. They agreed only nominally, retaining their intent not to become genuine members or enter the Inner Court. 95 96

Continental Advanced Soul Master Academy Elite Tournament

Following severe casualties suffered by the main team on an Inspectorate mission, Shrek entered the tournament with only eight available members and relied heavily on Huo Yuhao's reserve team. 165 171

Golden Tree Detention

Following Huo Yuhao's resonance with the Golden Tree, Shrek's elders debated keeping him at the academy for security reasons. The academy characterized the plan as making him a Shrek member rather than detaining him, but Huo Yuhao and the Spirit Pagoda regarded it as coercive. 237 240 241

Huo Yuhao openly chose the Spirit Pagoda when asked where he wished to remain. Opposition from the Spirit Pagoda and Zhen Hua weakened the hardline elders' position, while Di Tian's arrival and demand for Huo Yuhao's release forced Shrek to relent. 242 244 245

Destruction

A barrage of Fixed Soul Guidance Shells struck Shrek Academy, with the academy's elders mobilizing to defend it. 315

The Holy Spirit Cult employed Level 12 Fixed Soul Guidance Shells, weapons capable of threatening even true gods. Yun Ming, Elder Jin, the Sea God Pavilion, and the Golden Tree's power were mobilized in an attempt to protect the Inner Court. 316

The attack devastated Shrek City and destroyed the academy. Its surviving students resolved to avenge the institution and grow stronger. 319

Many of Shrek's teachers died protecting students during the catastrophe. The underground shelter beneath the academy preserved a number of survivors, who remained hidden below the ruins while cultivating and awaiting the academy's revival. 401

Reconstruction Efforts

Half a year after the destruction, Shrek's former grounds remained untouched even as the Federation and Spirit Pagoda helped reconstruct Shrek City's residential districts. The academy's once-dominant position in the city was replaced by the Spirit Pagoda's continued presence. 334

Long Yeyue later declared that Shrek Academy still existed through its graduates and surviving members, and announced her intention to rebuild it despite Zang Xin's warning that the political circumstances remained unstable. 397

Long Yeyue gathered Na'er, Wu Changkong, Yuanen Yehui, Ye Xinglan, Wu Sidu, Lan Muzi, and Tang Yinmeng as the academy's future core. As Shrek's only remaining Title Douluo, she set them accelerated cultivation goals and intended to return Shrek to the continent once enough of them became Title Douluos. 420
