Background / History

Big Wave Town was formerly a town-level settlement with a population of roughly 30,000. A battlefield where Transcendents fought left most buildings collapsed; later flooding and decades of abandonment reduced it to overgrown ruins. Its water system connects to the Lin River, causing the town to become swamp-like whenever the river floods and bringing in mutated plant seeds. 145

Despite its condition, the town retained several valuable Old Era assets: the intact White Water Dam, a hydroelectric station whose turbines had been removed, usable dock facilities, surviving residential structures in eight surrounding villages, and portions of its underground water and sewage networks. 145

Cheng Ye selected Big Wave Town for Xingfu City's satellite-city program because repairing existing infrastructure would cost substantially less than building from scratch. He estimated that restoring the dam could address its immediate water and power demands, while converting surviving buildings could save at least 40% of initial resettlement resources. 145

During the initial assessment and construction period, Big Wave Town was threatened by riverborne Infection Sources and mental contamination originating from the Demonic Eye Sponge beneath the Whitewater River. After the Immortal Relic was contained, the contamination dissipated and external rescue and logistics teams could enter again. 223 239

A large-scale relocation began after the containment operation. Cheng Ye brought approximately 3,000 residents from the Buffer Zone to begin demolition, resettlement, and reconstruction; the town was subsequently rebuilt as an independent Satellite City. 278

Geography

Big Wave Town originally had a cross-shaped layout, with East Street leading into a low cluster of Old Era buildings. Its tallest surviving structures were several five-story residential blocks and a four-story government building. 150

The town occupies a strategically important position at the division of the Whitewater River and Yellow Water River:

Reconstruction and town layout

The original ruins were largely demolished after relocation. The town center was shifted about two kilometers north from the riverbank, freeing it from the constraints of the Old Era layout and creating space for new functional zones. 278 283

Hydroelectric Station

The hydroelectric station is Big Wave Town's principal infrastructure advantage. Though its turbines were gone before reconstruction, White Water Dam remained structurally intact and could be restored at much lower cost than constructing a new facility. 145
