The Gate to Hell

Leo and Ais fought in the underground sewers from daytime until night fell, only barely bringing the battle to an end.

By the time they finished, all the water in the sewers had turned into blood reeking of a heavy stench. The surrounding channels were covered in damage, and chunks of corpses lay scattered everywhere, giving the place the atmosphere of a horror film.

"Is it over?"

Starlight in Leo's hand still gleamed with razor-sharp brilliance, showing not the slightest dullness or wear. Not a drop of blood stained its blade.

"—Yes. There are no more."

Ais stood in the sewer with her sword in hand as well. After closing her eyes and sensing the surroundings, she finally gave that answer.

"There were really a lot of them." Leo nudged a chunk of flesh near his foot and looked at the Man-Eating Flower corpses strewn across the ground. "The people in the city probably have no idea that so many dangerous monsters are living right beneath their feet, do they?"

Ais fell silent for a moment before looking at Leo.

"What next?"

The young girl was asking what they should do next.

"We keep scouting."

As Leo sheathed his sword, he flexed his fingers and checked the condition of his body.

After that intense battle, his body and mind had basically finished adjusting to one another.

He had now fully adapted to and mastered the immense power he had gained after leveling up.

Once he confirmed that, Leo smiled faintly and turned toward Ais.

"We finally caught hold of the enemy's trail. We can't let them get away."
