Background

Devil of Chiba

Leo was born a devil, descended from a pure-blood devil and a church exorcist. He spent fifteen years living in Chiba, taking devil-side assignments and fulfilling human wishes until he reached high-class devil status. His clients included influential local figures whose advancement he facilitated through suggestion, hypnosis, and brainwashing. 32 37

After receiving evil pieces, Leo’s Eligos family trait mutated into Peerage Transformation. Seeking a strong first servant and a foundation for his future development, he targeted Yukino Yukinoshita, whose recruitment triggered the trait and awakened the Longinus Zenith Tempest within him. 2 7

Leo concealed Zenith Tempest at first, recognizing that the second-ranked Longinus would attract the attention of devils, fallen angels, the Church, and Heaven before he was strong enough to protect himself. Ajuka Beelzebub nevertheless learned the truth of his mutation trait early and became an important source of Underworld backing. 14 44 117 121

Rise of the Eligos Peerage

Leo built a peerage around powerful Sacred Gear users and high-potential recruits. His repeated use of Peerage Transformation rapidly increased his demonic power, rank, bloodline, and control over Zenith Tempest. 24 84 157

His rising profile drew the attention of Tiamat, Sirzechs Lucifer, and other major Underworld figures. Tiamat regarded both Leo and his peerage as exceptionally promising, while Sirzechs supported his recruitment of Ravel Phenex as a politically valuable addition to the Eligos peerage. 73 74 142

After recruiting Ravel, Ram, and Rem, Leo became a ten-wing perfect devil with a bloodline said to surpass that of the Demon Kings. He later subdued the Cerberus King as a familiar and defeated Kokabiel with overwhelming force. 157 170 174

Dimensional Gap and Transcendence

In a dimensional gap, Leo fought and killed a Dragon King before using Peerage Transformation to reincarnate her as Kanna Kamui. The resulting feedback strengthened Zenith Tempest and gave him the Lightning trait. 208 209

Following Stella’s awakening and her attack with Laevateinn, Ophis identified Leo’s Peerage Transformation as a transcendent ability. Leo agreed to help Ophis oppose Great Red; after Ophis accepted his Queen piece and bestowed much of her power upon him, he became a Demon God. 216 218 231

In Orario, Leo spent a year as a probationary logistics worker at Twilight Manor after Ais Wallenstein brought him to the Loki Familia. Once Loki and Finn accepted his character and intentions, he formally joined the Familia and received Loki’s Blessing. 232 235

Leo immediately pursued Dungeon exploration and developed at an unprecedented pace. His rapid ascensions, solo defeat of Goliath, and powerful magic made him famous throughout Orario, while Loki Familia protected the details of his exceptional Status from outside forces. 274 280 292

Appearance
