Background / History

Whis has served alongside Beerus for over one hundred billion years and understands the God of Destruction's temper well. While returning from Planet Vegeta with Beerus, he senses a subtle universal fluctuation and suspects that a being capable of shaking the current order has emerged. He cannot investigate while traveling through space, but the disturbance marks the beginning of his interest in Kairos. 24

He explains to Beerus that Frieza failed to completely exterminate the Saiyans, then calmly teases Beerus over his concern about the prophesied Super Saiyan God. Whis privately considers whether Beerus should be told that a Super Saiyan has already appeared. 37 38

Whis becomes increasingly interested in Kairos after observing his unusual eyes, which he considers potentially connected to the “power of rules” and capable of seeing the essence of things.
