Background / History

Bardock was born a Low-class Warrior, but rose through relentless combat and military achievements to become one of the strongest Saiyans. His accomplishments earned him respect even from Elite Warriors, while King Vegeta III entrusted him with major responsibilities. His status also helped secure Raditz a place as a candidate for the royal guard. 57

Despite his standing, Bardock remained constrained by the Saiyan caste system: even after surpassing upper-class and elite warriors in strength, he was still treated as a Low-class Warrior. He knew King Vegeta III regarded his growing power as a threat and intended to eliminate him. 58

While returning through space, Bardock was ambushed and seriously injured. He also witnessed troubling visions before Kairos contacted him with a warning that Frieza intended to annihilate the Saiyan race. Though initially wary of Kairos, he agreed to meet him on Planet Vegeta. 55 56

Kairos healed Bardock, taught him ki cultivation, and revealed the path to becoming a Super Saiyan. Bardock's strength rose repeatedly as he faced the prospect of his people's extinction. 57 60
