Background / History

Ning Yang is Ning Fengzhi's second son and Ning Rongrong's older brother. Born with only Level 3 Innate Soul Power, he had far less cultivation potential than his sister, who was regarded as the likely successor after awakening the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda with Level 9 Innate Soul Power. Ning Fengzhi nevertheless taught Ning Yang his methods of reading and influencing people, then sent him out to gain practical experience through business. 29

He established the Treasure Pavilion and recruited six Soul Elder guards to protect it in shifts. As Ning Fengzhi's son, he became a recurring target of assassination attempts, which he survived while managing his own affairs. 29

Ning Yang met Lin Li outside Seven Treasure City while resolving a public dispute at his shop. During an assassination attempt, he remained composed, directed his guards to seize the attackers, and immediately recognized Lin Li's strength and value as a potential ally. After Lin Li protected him, Ning Yang revealed his identity and invited him to drink; their conversation convinced Lin Li that Ning Yang's sincerity was genuine. 27 28

After Lin Li gave him Aromatic Silk Beauty, Ning Yang's martial soul evolved beyond the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda's inherited limit. Ning Fengzhi formally designated him as the sect's heir, making his safety and future descendants matters of sect succession. 39 40

Ning Yang is composed, observant, and commercially skilled. When confronted with a staged-looking dispute at the Treasure Pavilion, he avoided escalating the conflict, shifted the issue toward customer service, and offered medical examination and compensation rather than arguing over the item's value. 27
