"Teacher Baki, is this Konoha? That gate is huge!" Temari exclaimed as she looked at Konoha's wide-open gate and the crowds streaming in and out.

By comparison, the entrance to Sunagakure looked like some shabby country lane—old-fashioned and rustic.

Baki frowned at Konoha's gate. Although the Chunin Joint Selection Exam was being held jointly by allied nations, with everyone claiming that friendship came first and competition second, he had still done his homework ahead of time.

According to reliable intelligence, Konoha's gate couldn't possibly be this big!

That's it. Konoha must have remodeled the gate just for this competition to show off how prosperous it is. Hmph. Childish!

Baki stared at the rows of buildings beyond the gate and the throngs of people, their voices filling the air. His eyes reddened. My Sunagakure may be in the desert, but we haven't been inferior to anyone for decades!

"Let's go!"

Baki snorted and led the nine Genin, including Temari, and more than a dozen subordinates toward Konoha.

"Stop!"

In the blink of an eye, two figures appeared out of nowhere with astonishing speed and blocked the Sunagakure group.

They were Konoha's Gatekeeper Duo, Kotetsu Hagane and Izumo Kamizuki!

"Come over here and register, everyone from Sunagakure," Kotetsu said.

As the gatekeepers, the two had known about the Chunin Joint Selection Exam a month in advance. Otherwise, they would have sounded the alarm the moment they saw a group of twenty or thirty Sunagakure Ninja.

Baki knew this was Konoha's procedure, so he stepped forward and began filling out the form.
