Background / History

Shen Qingchan is the daughter of the late Hero Shen Tianxing. She was sent to the Yunhai Sword Sect at age six and trained there for nearly ten years, becoming a third-rank martial artist by her coming-of-age year. Upon hearing of the upheaval at Shen Mansion and her father's death, she returned to Taiping City determined to protect the family and avenge him. 18

She initially distrusted the mysterious Demon Sealer staying at Shen Mansion, considering him a person of unknown origin with questionable intentions. Though she repeatedly sought his martial-arts guidance after being defeated by his sword technique, she retained a dislike of Demon Sealers even as she came to acknowledge his strength. 18 19

Madam Yun arranged for Shen Qingchan to travel to Chishui Village with Mu Huangtu, whom Shen Qingchan believed to be the Demon Sealer's talented younger brother. Their journey led them to confront bandits, investigate the demon-ravaged village, and battle the Dragon Demon Fish responsible for Shen Tianxing's death. 21 22 23

After Mu Huangtu shielded her from a hidden assailant and escaped with her through an ancient well, Shen Qingchan carried him through the underwater caverns and later shared the Blood Lingzhi they discovered there. The experience deepened her trust and affection toward him. 23 25 26
