Planet Kano!
Galactic Patrolman Jaco was lying under the belly of his spaceship, inspecting a malfunction. This time, however, the ship had been hit directly in the power system, so the damage was quite severe.
Staring at the dense web of wires, Jaco's eyes began to glaze over. As a combatant (self-proclaimed) within the Galactic Patrol, being tasked with this kind of work was truly difficult for him. He was supposed to be on the front lines apprehending space pirates, not flying this dilapidated ship on routine patrols, only to be shot down by pirates and forced to land on this planet.
Jaco thought indignantly, randomly plugging a wire into a circuit board slot. Unexpectedly, the ship actually began to power up. Jaco let out an excited yelp and immediately scrambled out from under the ship.
"Tights, I've fixed the ship! We can leave here right away!" Jaco found his partner, Tights, who was nearby taking in the scenery, and shouted the good news to her.
Tights, who had been busy taking photos of the distant landscape with her camera, turned around immediately, looking at Jaco with a face full of surprise!
"Jaco, really?"
Hearing Tights question him, Jaco was immediately displeased. He pointed at the ship that had started up and said triumphantly, "Could a small matter like this possibly stump an elite like me?"
Tights looked in the direction Jaco was pointing, but what she saw was a flash of sparks followed by the ship billowing thick smoke. She couldn't help but get black lines on her forehead, and she said through gritted teeth, "Jaco, are you sure the ship is still usable?"
Jaco didn't yet realize that his ship had been completely totaled by his tinkering. He nodded smugly, "Of course! Can't you see it?"
Tights shouted in exasperation, "You idiot, the ship is on fire! How is it supposed to start?"
"Impossible, I..." Jaco turned his head to look, and was so shocked by the smoking ship that he couldn't finish his sentence!
"Dummy, hurry up and put out the fire!" Tights was already running toward the ship, not forgetting to throw a jab at the dumbfounded Jaco over her shoulder.
Coming back to his senses, Jaco immediately ran after Tights!
After an hour of emergency efforts, the two finally extinguished the flames. Covered in soot, they stood holding water buckets, staring at the ship before them, unable to recover for a long time.
"Jaco, can you still fix the ship now?"
"What do you think?"
"Then how are we supposed to leave this planet?"
"I already sent out a distress signal to the outside world earlier. The patrolmen at headquarters will come to pick us up once they receive it."
"How long will that take?"
"...I don't know!"
"..."
"Jaco, I'm going to kill you!"
In the outer space above Planet Kano, a massive spaceship loomed before the planet, with several smaller frigates lined up behind it.
"Bekum, have you detected the ship's signal?" an evil-looking space pirate captain asked his subordinate.
"Boss, we've got it. It's on Planet Kano. That idiot Galactic Patrolman just sent out a distress signal, and we intercepted it!"
"Excellent. Land immediately! I want that Galactic Patrolman captured alive!" the space pirate ordered.
His subordinates began to cheer.
At this moment, Jaco and Tights had no idea that the space pirates attacking them had caught up, and that Jaco's own actions had led them right to their doorstep!
After their scuffle, Tights lay on the ground, completely unconcerned with her image, staring at the sky in despair. She knew Jaco was unreliable; otherwise, he wouldn't have needed Bulma's help back on Earth just to fix his ship.
But Tights hadn't expected Jaco to be this incompetent. Now, they were stranded on this desolate, uninhabited planet with no idea when other patrolmen might arrive. At the thought of having to live a primitive, savage life, Tights felt like crying.
Suddenly, Tights, lying on the ground, saw several fireballs appear on the horizon. Her years of experience traveling through space immediately told her that ships were landing. She excitedly shouted, "Jaco! Come out quickly, there are ships!"
Hearing the commotion, Jaco immediately crawled out of his ship. He had been busy organizing the remaining supplies and thought Tights had run into danger.
"Tights, what's the situation?" Jaco held his Laser Gun, scanning his surroundings with a vigilant expression.
Seeing Jaco's reaction, Tights paused, a flicker of emotion flashing in her eyes, before she happily said, "Look! Ships are landing, we're saved!" She pointed toward the sky as she spoke.
Jaco looked up immediately and saw the incoming ships. However, his race's innate ability granted him incredibly sharp vision, allowing him to clearly see the skull emblem of the space pirates on the hull. His expression changed drastically, and he panicked, "Quick! Tights, we have to hide! It's those space pirates!"
Hearing Jaco's words, the color drained from Tights' face. She turned deathly pale and stammered, "Jaco, are you sure? Didn't you say we had already shaken them off?"
Jaco fell silent. After a moment, he said uncertainly, "Maybe... maybe they tracked the distress signal I sent out."
Hearing Jaco's reply, Tights was speechless. The flicker of warmth she had felt just moments ago vanished without a trace.
"Jaco!"
Tights completely gave up. She shouldn't have held any expectations for this guy. Having adventured in space with Jaco for so long, she knew full well that he was a total amateur. And since none of these space pirates were pushovers, Jaco was no match for them.
Before long, the ships landed on the ground. Tights and Jaco were already hiding behind a rock, secretly observing.
Seeing the people stepping out of the ships, the two exchanged a look and abandoned any remaining hope. The pirate captain was the same alien who had been chasing them—the guy Jaco had recognized from a wanted poster on his Galactic Patrol mission list.
Carefully shifting their bodies, the two began to retreat, hoping to find a place to hide properly.
Unfortunately, these pirates were equipped with Scouters. Tights' power level was negligible, but Jaco had a power level of over 500. On a planet with almost no life, he stood out as clearly as a candle in the dark.
Suddenly, the space pirate captain's gaze locked directly onto their hiding spot, and a cruel grin slowly spread across his face!
"Run!" Jaco's superior vision allowed him to realize they had been spotted immediately. He grabbed Tights and started to bolt.
Unfortunately, Jaco didn't know how to hide his combat power. Even though he tried his best to stay hidden, he was eventually found by this group!
"Tsk, tsk, tsk! Look who it is?"
"Isn't this the Galactic Patrolman? The bane of space pirates!"
"Doesn't that make him our nemesis? How did he end up in our hands?"
"Hahaha!"
The group of space pirates surrounded the two, mocking Jaco to their hearts' content, not taking the Galactic Patrolman seriously at all.
Jaco's expression turned incredibly ugly. He wanted nothing more than to pull the trigger on the laser gun in his hand and blast these bastards to death. However, because Tights was there, he didn't dare act rashly. Once he launched an attack, the frail Tights would have a hard time surviving the ensuing battle.
After all these years, even though they constantly bickered, their shared adventures had made them good friends. He already felt guilty enough that Tights had been dragged into this ambush; if she were to lose her life because of it, Jaco would never be able to forgive himself!
"Alright, grab these two. And remember to disarm that patrolman!" After the mockery, the pirate leader gave the order, and all the pirates began to move.
"Tights, I'll hold them off in a moment. Find an opportunity and run immediately. Once you're out, hide right away. Your combat power is too low; the chances of them spotting you are slim." Seeing the pirates begin their advance, Jaco immediately shielded Tights and whispered his instructions.
Tights' eyes welled up with tears upon hearing Jaco, but she knew the situation was urgent. She didn't object, simply nodding heavily and whispering, "Jaco, you be careful too. I'm still waiting for you to go on more adventures with me—my novel isn't finished yet!"
Jaco understood what Tights meant, as the protagonist of her novel was Jaco himself. He didn't say a word, only staring solemnly at the space pirates slowly closing in!
Just as Jaco prepared to pull the trigger, several Ki Blasts suddenly flew rapidly from above the space pirates. The pirates in mid-air didn't even have time to scream before they were blasted into dust by the Ki Blasts. As the smoke cleared, almost all of the pirate underlings had perished, with only a few who had decent combat power managing to block the attack.
Everyone present was shocked by the sudden assault. Only Tights, her face filled with the relief of having survived a disaster, whispered happily to Jaco, "Jaco, it looks like we're saved!"
Although he was surprised that someone else was there, Jaco did not let his guard down, continuing to watch the space pirate legion ahead with vigilance.
"Who is it? Come out!" Seeing his subordinates wiped out, the pirate leader was furious.
"Raditz, it seems your combat power is still far from enough! You'll need extra training when we get back!" A young voice rang out above the battlefield, drawing everyone's gaze toward them.
Three figures appeared in everyone's sight. All three were wearing Frieza Force battle armor. One of them, a young man with spiky hair that reached past his knees, was also wearing a single-ear Scouter.
Seeing this familiar attire, the expressions of Jaco and all the remaining space pirates changed drastically. They all recognized the identities of the three newcomers, especially the tails coiled around their waists, which gave them away completely!
"Sai--yan--s!" The pirate leader gritted his teeth, spitting out the identity of the arrivals.
