While Turles and his group were busy making moves in the center of the galaxy, Vegeta, who remained under Frieza's forces, was not sitting idle either; he had begun to formulate new plans.
After his battle with Turles, Vegeta had discovered that Turles possessed a combat technique for suppressing his ki.
Although Vegeta had seen similar abilities while invading planets in the past, he had never paid them any mind, likely because those indigenous inhabitants were not as strong as he was.
But Turles was different. With just a single hand-chop, he had knocked him unconscious.
This strike had shattered the pride Vegeta had always held as the Prince of Saiyans. Being defeated by another Saiyan, in particular, made Vegeta feel deeply humiliated.
However, Vegeta was worthy of being someone who could consistently keep pace with Son Goku. His talent and comprehension were top-tier; after just one encounter with Turles, he had managed to figure out the technique for suppressing his combat power on his own, and even learned how to sense ki in the process.
Vegeta was very confident in his own talent. He believed that as long as he could continue to grow smoothly, he would eventually become the Legendary Super Saiyan, and when that time came, he would trample Frieza under his feet.
Vegeta was also a smart man. Naturally, he did not believe Frieza's claim that Planet Vegeta had been destroyed by a meteor. However, he knew he was no match for Frieza at his current level, so he had always pretended not to know, carefully hiding his true intentions.
But on that day, Vegeta's dreams were shattered!
That day, Vegeta received a summons from Frieza for his squad. Knowing his strength was inferior to Frieza's, Vegeta had no choice but to take Nappa and head to the base planet.
Yet, upon returning to the base planet and seeing Frieza again, Vegeta was stunned by the ki he sensed from Frieza. He could never have imagined that Frieza's ki would be so powerful!
That cold, frigid ki appeared within Vegeta's perception, and every cell in his body was screaming a frantic warning, urging him to flee immediately!
Fortunately, Vegeta had survived under Frieza until now because his mental fortitude far exceeded that of an ordinary person. He forced himself to endure his body's instincts, only then managing to handle Frieza.
After leaving the base planet and getting away from Frieza, Vegeta actually felt a sense of being reborn. This feeling made Vegeta feel ashamed, and following that shame came boundless rage.
As the Prince of Saiyans, Vegeta had always held incomparable pride in himself. Yet now, he had only managed to keep his life because the enemy had ignored him, and he had even felt a sense of relief because of it.
Thinking back to how Turles, a low-class warrior, possessed combat power far exceeding his own, Vegeta found all of this impossible to accept.
Since Turles, a low-class warrior, could break through the limits of his body and possess such powerful strength, then he, Vegeta, could naturally do the same.
Therefore, Vegeta began to study Turles's technique for suppressing ki and frantically took on missions to invade high-level planets, even nearly dying in the process, all to hone himself.
Vegeta's efforts were rewarded. After this period of madness, not only had he mastered the technique of controlling his ki, but his combat power had also increased significantly. Now, his combat power had broken through to over thirty thousand.
However, this alone was not enough. He needed even greater power, and at the same time, he needed more help. After Raditz had left, Nappa alone could not stand against the Frieza Force, so he thought of Raditz's younger brother—Kakarot.
"Nappa!" Vegeta called out to Nappa, who was resting nearby.
"Yes!"
Hearing Vegeta's shout, Nappa jolted, immediately stood up, and walked quickly to Vegeta's side. He looked at Vegeta cautiously, waiting for his orders.
Ever since being defeated by Turles, Vegeta's temper had become increasingly volatile, and his thoughts had become difficult to fathom. A while back, he had even been frantically invading high-level planets and nearly died in one of the missions. Because of this, Nappa had been keeping his own temper in check during this time, serving Vegeta with great care.
Nappa now envied Raditz, who had already left. Although he didn't know what kind of temper Turles had, based on his observations, Turles was much easier to talk to than Vegeta.
Vegeta naturally noticed Nappa's little thoughts, but he didn't care. He simply asked, "Did you find out the location of the planet where Kakarot is, as I ordered?"
"I found it! Following your instructions, I avoided the influence of the Frieza Force. I found a broker and didn't reveal any information about the Saiyans, but..."
Nappa quickly reported the situation to Vegeta, but he hesitated when he reached the end.
Vegeta frowned, displeased. "But what?"
Seeing Vegeta frown, Nappa didn't dare to hesitate any longer and immediately voiced his thoughts: "Do we really have to go to such a distant planet to find Kakarot?"
Seeing that Vegeta was growing impatient, Nappa continued, "I mean, if Raditz has already told Turles about Kakarot, and if Turles has already gone to pick him up, wouldn't we be making the trip for nothing? That's a journey that takes half a year even in the fastest ship."
Hearing Nappa's words, Vegeta's brow furrowed even tighter.
Nappa's concern was indeed a valid issue, but in the end, Vegeta made his decision: he was still going to make this trip.
There were two reasons why Vegeta decided to waste this half-year.
First, he already knew from the Frieza Force system that after Turles left Planet B1000, he had headed directly toward the center of the galaxy. This meant that if Turles really were looking for Kakarot, he couldn't have arrived that quickly.
Second, if he really did run into Turles on Earth, Vegeta would only be happier. He would return the humiliation he had suffered to Turles in full, and it would be even better if he could subjugate Turles.
In fact, even if he didn't run into Turles or find Kakarot, it wouldn't matter. It would be the perfect opportunity to stay out of Frieza's sight, and the planet where Kakarot was exiled was remote enough for that.
Seeing that Vegeta had made up his mind, Nappa wanted to say more, but intimidated by Vegeta's tyranny, he ultimately went to prepare the ship.
Watching Nappa's retreating back, Vegeta let out a cold snort.
If it weren't for the fact that he had absolutely no one else to use, Vegeta would have ended Nappa's life right then and there for harboring such petty thoughts. But for now, Nappa was the only subordinate Vegeta could trust.
"Soon. As long as my combat power reaches over 100,000, with the Great Ape Transformation, I will be able to completely defeat Frieza. If Frieza can sit on the throne of the Emperor of the Universe, then I, Vegeta, can sit there too!"
Vegeta clenched his fists, feeling the strength he had gained during this period, and spoke to himself with full confidence.
