Appearance

Saiyans closely resemble Earthlings, but are distinguished by a dark-brown, furry tail, commonly coiled around the waist. Their bodies are adapted for combat, and their physical development differs from that of humans. 1 9

During childhood, Saiyan cells are highly active, making most youths unusually belligerent and emotionally unstable in battle. After age fifteen, this agitation usually fades as the body matures, though the accumulated desire to fight remains a defining trait of the race. 25

A Saiyan’s tail can receive Blutz Waves reflected by a full moon. Looking upon the moonlight triggers a cellular mutation into a gigantic Great Ape, increasing combat power approximately tenfold. 26 27

History

Planet Plant and the Tuffles

Saiyans assigned to remote worlds, including low-class warriors such as Turles, survived the destruction because they were away from Planet Vegeta. 2

Relations with Other Races

• Tuffles — Former cohabitants of Planet Plant. Their coexistence with the Saiyans ended when King Vegeta’s forces exterminated them and claimed the planet. 28
