Background

Shalltear was created by Peroroncino as a Vampire Progenitor and became Nazarick’s strongest Floor Guardian, defending the First through Third Floors. Her appearance and personality were deliberately shaped around Peroroncino’s tastes, including the compulsions associated with her Blood Frenzy. 23 155

Outside Nazarick’s history, she was born as an extraordinarily rare Awakened God-kin carrying the bloodlines of both the Six Great Gods and the Eight Greed Kings. Her mother, Fein, was abused by the Elf King, who sought a powerful descendant; Shalltear grew up resented as a child who had “stained” the Six Great Gods’ bloodline. These experiences left her hostile toward the Six Great Gods and detached from the Theocracy she later protected. 256 291 343

While operating with Herohero, Shalltear converted the swordsman Brian Anglaus into a vampire and subsequently kept him as her pet and servant on Nazarick’s First Floor. She also pursued the fleeing Black Scripture, but Blood Frenzy overwhelmed her and caused her to kill a captive despite orders not to do so. Naiyuan reprimanded her while emphasizing that she needed to suppress her instincts rather than be ruled by them. 111 116 176

She was deployed as bait against the Platinum Dragon Lord’s remote-controlled armor, overwhelming and destroying it with the Spuit Lance before its controller arrived. The Dragon Lord’s holy breath posed a serious threat due to her vampiric nature, prompting Naiyuan to intervene and shield her. 120 121

During the conflict with Blue Rose, Shalltear effortlessly defeated the party, suppressed the vampire Ivilia through superior bloodline, and stimulated Ivilia’s dormant vampiric instincts to force a temporary increase in strength. Naiyuan later scolded Shalltear for losing control around Ivilia, though he acknowledged that the intervention had strategic value. 153 154 155

In the Temple of the Gods, Shalltear challenged Naiyuan after becoming convinced that only a stronger partner could satisfy her. Naiyuan defeated her decisively, blocking her scythe with one finger before using the tenth-tier spell Space Slash to kill her. He had secretly placed delayed Time Regression on her, restoring both her body and damaged divine equipment after he departed. 255 256 257

The defeat curbed some of her overconfidence and drove her to train obsessively. She later fought beside Curo during the Slane Theocracy’s war against the Elf Kingdom, confronting the Elf King—her biological father—without allowing rage to override her judgment. 281 290

Over time, Shalltear’s attachment to Naiyuan developed from fixation on his strength into an intimate relationship. She accepted his Calamity Mark as protection against the coming planar war, and later sought his help in cultivating the Authority of Degeneration. 425 561

Shalltear usually presents as a beautiful, petite teenage girl with an aristocratic yet unsettling charm. Her appearance is tailored to resemble an idealized lover, concealing her inhuman nature behind an elegant façade. 23 308
