Son Gohan was genuinely curious about Master Mutaito, who had been known as the God of Martial Arts in the early days of Dragon Ball. How strong was he now?
Bulma hadn't quite understood what Son Gohan meant, but she followed his instructions and took the Scouter out of her bag.
As everyone admired the ocean scenery, a fast-moving ripple appeared in the distance and came rushing toward them.
"Gohan, Bulma!"
"Look! Sea Turtle's carrying an old man over here!"
Son Goku raised a hand to shade his eyes as he gazed into the distance and called out, drawing everyone's attention.
"You can really see a long way! Anyway, Gohan, you were right. Someone really is coming!"
"Yeah. Let's see what happens first."
Son Gohan narrowed his eyes as he watched Master Roshi draw closer. For once, he fell silent.
"Oh my, what a crowd! Old Turtle, it's been years since we've seen this many people, hasn't it? Hm? There's a young lady, too!"
When Old Turtle reached the shore, everyone finally got a good look at their visitor.
He was a tiny, skinny, bald old man with a pair of flashy sunglasses, a floral shirt, baggy shorts, and a cane in his hand. Most notably, he had a heavy turtle shell strapped to his back.
He looked bizarre, yet somehow trendy.
"What do you know? He's a trendy old man!"
Bulma muttered, then immediately pressed the button on the Scouter.
"Beep beep beep..."
"Let's see... Battle Power Index is... 141?!"
"This unassuming old man has such a high Battle Power Index!"
Beside her, Son Gohan stared intently at Master Roshi, his expression grave. He was trying to sense the old man's energy, but to the naked eye, he looked like an ordinary old man, with no signs of training at all!
"So this is a Martial Arts Grandmaster? This feeling of returning to the natural state!"
The more ordinary his opponent seemed, the more terrifying he felt!
Before long, sweat covered Son Gohan's face.
Master Roshi noticed that something was off with him.
The bright smile on his face faltered for a moment. A glint flashed in his eyes, then he returned to his usual jovial expression.
"Well now, a young fellow with a pretty good foundation!"
He hopped off Sea Turtle and shuffled over to Son Gohan, giving him a light pat on the body.
"Don't be so tense, young man. You need to relax."
His big hands seemed to possess some kind of Magic Power. With each pat, Son Gohan's tightly tensed body gradually relaxed.
"He really is incredible! The moment I saw him, my body went into a state of alert on its own. It felt like I could barely control it!"
Son Gohan turned around, wiped the sweat from his face, and stepped forward.
"Goku, come here!"
After beckoning Son Goku over, he led him toward Master Roshi.
"You must be Master Mutaito, the God of Martial Arts?"
"We're Son Gohan's grandsons. This is my older brother, Son Goku, and I'm Son Gohan."
As he spoke, he drew Goku into a slight bow to show their respect for Master Roshi.
"Oh, so you're that rascal Gohan's grandsons! I was wondering how two such promising young fellows had appeared out of nowhere!"
Master Roshi looked as if he'd suddenly understood.
"How is Gohan doing? It's been many years since I last saw him."
Since they were all acquainted, he didn't feel the need to put on airs.
"Grandpa passed away," Son Goku said dejectedly, clearly pained by the question.
"Grandpa went to heaven a few years ago because of some special circumstances."
Son Gohan patted Son Goku on the head and smoothly stepped in.
Master Roshi was a little puzzled. Given Son Gohan's martial arts skills, he shouldn't have died so young. But he didn't ask about it and merely said it was a shame.
He soon set the matter aside and explained the reason for his visit.
"Since we're old friends, and you brought Old Turtle back, I must give you a little something to show my gratitude!"
"Come forth, Phoenix!"
He turned toward the blue sky and summoned it. Son Goku and Bulma, who knew nothing about the situation, looked expectantly toward the direction his cane was pointing.
Master Roshi held his strange pose for a long while. At last, Old Turtle, who had been watching from the sidelines, quietly spoke up.
"Phoenix died of food poisoning last year."
Master Roshi awkwardly glanced at the people around him, then pretended to be nonchalant and went over to wrestle Old Turtle.
"Old Turtle, you did that on purpose, didn't you? With all these youngsters here, don't I deserve to save face? Why didn't you tell me sooner?"
"You're the old turtle! Your whole family's old turtles!"
"I'm a noble Sea Turtle!"
"You're spitting all over my face!"
Master Roshi went all out, and Sea Turtle wasn't about to back down. The two of them clashed like thunder and lightning, exchanging a friendly round of insults.
Though they both had their backs to the others, the intensity of the atmosphere made it clear that their exchange was getting heated.
Eventually, one of them must have given in first. Master Roshi returned with a warm, amiable smile.
"Hehe, sorry to keep you waiting, everyone. I just remembered I have another treasure. I'll give it to you."
He straightened his clothes, tugged his sleeve back into place, and shouted toward the sky again.
"Flying Nimbus!"
A crisp sound rang out in the distance, and a dusky yellow cloud floated over. It circled the group once, then stopped in front of Master Roshi.
"I got this cloud on an adventure when I was young. I'm old now, so I don't need it anymore. You can have it."
"Ahem, well, only someone pure of heart can ride this cloud. Talk among yourselves and decide who needs it."
Son Goku crouched beside the cloud, looking it over with wide-eyed curiosity.
"This cloud looks so soft. Can you eat it?"
"Of course you can't!"
Bulma looked puzzled.
"What's this cloud for?"
Seeing the beautiful young woman take an interest in his cloud, Master Roshi instantly perked up.
"You can ride this cloud and fly freely through the sky! I'll show you!"
With that, he sprang toward the cloud with a whoosh.
Everyone heard a splash, and Master Roshi passed right through the cloud before crashing straight to the ground.
"Ahem, that was... an accident. An accident."
"Anyway, that's how it works. You can decide what to do with it."
"I'll give it a try!" As soon as Bulma saw Master Roshi move aside, she hurried forward.
When she reached the cloud, she lunged onto it, but she passed right through without a doubt, tilting sideways as she fell toward the ground.
In the blink of an eye, Son Gohan dashed over and caught her in his arms.
"Honestly, if you want to try it, go ahead—but you don't need to be so reckless, do you?"
Bulma scratched her head awkwardly.
"Gohan, want to give it a try?"
