Beerus and Whis investigate the aura produced by Ji Yun and Goku's battle on Earth. Beerus immediately establishes his superiority by incapacitating Goku, then nearly kills Android 18 after she attacks him. Ji Yun's intervention reveals his latent Hakai, drawing Beerus's interest 58 59.

Recruitment of Ji Yun

After learning that Ji Yun possesses Hakai and can briefly stop time, Beerus and Whis offer him the position of apprentice God of Destruction. Beerus makes clear that refusal could endanger Earth, forcing Ji Yun to accept in order to protect his family and planet 60.

Beerus then uses a “test” of Ji Yun's strength as an excuse to vent his frustrations. Their spar reveals Ji Yun's resilience, Flash Time Skill, Hakai-infused attacks, and ability to grow stronger under pressure 61 62 63 64.

Universe 6 Challenge

Beerus directs Whis to train Ji Yun so that he can challenge Champa, both to develop Ji Yun and to humiliate his brother 79 80. Although Beerus initially mocks Champa, he becomes genuinely worried once the challenge carries serious consequences and Champa reveals more power than expected 82 86 91.

Ji Yun ultimately defeats Champa, securing Beerus a victory in their wager and spreading Beerus's prestige across the universes 94 96 118.

Later Encounters on Earth

Beerus remains largely inactive during Majin Buu's attack because he is asleep, leaving Ji Yun and Whis to return to Earth and address the crisis 101. When Ji Yun later visits the God of Destruction Realm, Beerus behaves politely toward him, causing Goku and Vegeta to recognize Ji Yun's exceptional standing 118.

Beerus later spars with Goku, effortlessly defeats him despite his Super Saiyan 3 form, and restrains himself from killing him out of consideration for Ji Yun 122 123.

Conflicts Among the Gods of Destruction

When Ji Yun's challenge to every God of Destruction becomes known across all twelve universes, Beerus eagerly supports him and looks forward to seeing his rivals defeated 175 179. He becomes enraged when the visiting Gods of Destruction mock Ji Yun, but Whis prevents him from escalating the confrontation himself 180 181.

Beerus later witnesses Ji Yun surpass the level of a God of Destruction and survive overwhelming attacks that devastate the God of Destruction Realm 163 195 196.

Defeat by Ji Yun

Ji Yun eventually challenges Beerus and Whis to spar together. Beerus and Whis attack him jointly, but Ji Yun defeats both while holding back, leaving Beerus humbled by his former apprentice's growth 201.
