Lynch said this as they walked out of the Golden Rose.

Leonard raked a hand through his hair and sighed. "I thought your status as the Goddess's favored one would give us a few more chances."

Lynch rolled his eyes.

Surely the Goddess couldn't tell the Red Gloves that her favored one was handling this and they should stay out of it?

"Every victim was a life lost. If we can't solve this, I personally think handing it over to the Red Gloves is only right."

Lynch spoke with righteous conviction.

Despite saying that, the thought of that possibility still made him quite anxious.

This was clearly a chance to earn enormous merit. If he caught the Devil and his dog, the Goddess would surely prepare his sequence 6 and sequence 5 potions for him. If he failed, who knew how long he would have to wait with the paltry merit he had earned?

But he certainly couldn't tell Leonard any of that. All he could do now was pretend to be sincere.

"That's true, but it would be embarrassing. Looks like we need to pick up the pace."

Leonard nodded, then turned
