The Last Thing
Klein shook his head, amused.
Even though he sounded so unhappy, I still remembered to buy it for him.
Even though Lynch made it sound so easy, he earned a hundred pounds from one commission, so he simply bought the item.
But considering how much money Lynch loves, he probably had to be very ruthless.
And then there's Melissa. This guy said they weren't related, but then he went out that very night to buy the talisman Melissa requested. Isn't that what you call being stubborn?
Klein gave Lynch a disdainful look. He was waiting to see how Lynch would behave with Melissa in the future. He was determined to make Lynch contradict himself and pretend to be a gentleman!
"I don't plan to take it now. I'll wait until the holidays to take it; that way, I might feel better."
Klein came up with an explanation.
He definitely can't take it now.
He took it, so how will Lynch get to Sefirah Castle?
Now that I think about it, his suspicion has decreased a lot. Lynch bought the things himself, so they didn't go through his hands. Therefore, he shouldn't be suspected so quickly.
The only person I might be concerned about is the stall owner; Lynch might ask him some questions.
Of course, Lynch might suspect him because of how much he values this thing, but that's just a possibility; Lynch might not even think of that!
After all, he has a bad memory.
Klein almost laughed.
Lynch ignored Klein's thoughts. He packed the books he needed to take that day, tidied himself up in the restroom, and then quickly set off with Klein to the security company.
Of course, they didn't forget to bring Rozanne breakfast on the way.
In the morning, Lynch studied with Old Neil. He took a short nap at noon, and in the afternoon, he made an excuse to practice shooting by himself and quickly ran out of the company.
He's been very busy with work these past few days.
I've arranged to watch the Ritual held by Lanevus with Hainasen this afternoon, and I also need to find Trissy to choose the mother of the Divine Child through her.
Lynch wasn't worried about Trissy not being able to find her. As Trissy said, there were plenty of people willing to give their lives for money. He just hoped that she was truly willing, and not forced into it.
Although he was already working for the evil god, Lynch still didn't want to truly become corrupted.
He took out the address Trissy had given him, switched to Warrior Pathway, got into the carriage, and tried to get there as quickly as possible.
Trissy had indeed identified her target and was just waiting for him to appear. Upon seeing him, she immediately got into the carriage with him.
"These are the two women I chose. This Ms. Lilian has two sick children, and if she can't come up with the money, her children will die."
Another is Ms. Ansali. After her husband and children died, she became addicted to drugs and just wanted to have one last hit before she died. She would do anything if you could provide her with the money to buy what she needed.
Lynch hesitated for a moment, then decided to go and see them all.
They went to find Ansali first, and Lynch knew it was her almost immediately.
This woman doesn't have much longer to live; perhaps it's best to let her have a better life before she dies.
"What about Lilian?"
Trissy asked instinctively.
Lynch wanted to ask, "How did he know?"
His conscience prevented him from choosing that mother; what else could he possibly ask of him?
Abandoning those two seriously ill children might allow them to start New Life.
but...
He sighed, then finally pulled a pound from his pocket, and after thinking for a moment, added four more pounds.
"I'll go deliver it to her. You take Ansali and fulfill her wish, then wait for me outside Lilian's house."
This may be retribution for his bad deeds.
Lynch's speechless complaint.
Five pounds was a lot of money for him.
He'll definitely have to give the five hundred pounds he got from Trissy to Ansali in the end, and he'll use the one hundred pounds he earned from Elizabeth to buy a crystal ball.
As for the materials he got from Old Neil, he did want to sell them, but he felt they were also useful to him, so he didn't.
So he really doesn't have much money left.
Upon arriving at Lilian's house, Lynch circled around twice before quickly leaving.
This family was so poor that Lilian had to take care of the children, do laundry, and also take on a part-time job making matches. She was making the most of every minute of her time.
Lynch suspected that if Lilian continued working like this, she would soon fall seriously ill and die silently in this cramped place.
He sighed, placed the money under Lilian's pillow, left her a note telling her to take the money to the doctor, and then quickly left.
He was afraid that he might get overwhelmed with sympathy and give away all the money he had.
While Lilian was still working, Lynch simply climbed over the wall.
Then he returned to the carriage.
Trissy was applying makeup to Ansali in the carriage, while Lynch watched in stunned silence.
Ansali used to be pale and emaciated, which was terrifying to look at. Now, I don't know what Trissy did, but she looks like a human being.
Is this alright?
Trissy held up the mirror for Ansali to see.
Ansali stared at the mirror, almost bursting into tears.
"I looked like this before my children and husband died. No, I looked even better. Believe me, I was really beautiful back then. It was drugs that ruined me. I couldn't quit. I was so stupid. Why did I even touch it? I could have started a new life!"
Ansali burst into tears.
Lynch couldn't bear to watch, but there was nothing he could do to help.
He's not a Pathway, so there's absolutely nothing that can be done.
However, thinking of the doctor, he remembered that there was still a doctor in Tingen. He would go there and replicate this Pathway whenever he had time, so that it would be easier to make money in the future.
Even if he were to become Apothecary now, Lynch could be certain that Ansali was truly beyond saving.
Her prolonged Indulgence ruined her body, and doctors could only slow her death.
This is perhaps what makes drugs so terrifying.
"If you don't want to go, I can find someone else..."
Lynch hesitated, feeling a little reluctant.
However, before he could finish speaking, Ansali interrupted him.
"No, no need. I'm willing to cooperate. I've lost all hope of living. I hope you'll keep your promise and give me the remaining four hundred and fifty pounds."
Lynch nodded.
He would give Ansali money once she became pregnant with the Divine Child, but he couldn't let his guard down. If Ansali changed her mind and went to the police, he would be in big trouble.
So Lynch turned to look at Trissy.
"Remember, after I give her the money, you'll stay with her and ensure her safety. This is the last thing you'll do."
It also had a surveillance element to it, but it didn't need to be so explicit in front of Ansali. It was enough to let Ansali know that someone was watching her and that she wasn't so free.
He later spoke privately with Trissy about the other matters, explaining the True Creator, believing that Trissy would understand the seriousness of the situation.
What?
What if Trissy runs away against the contract?
How could that be? Trissy is already involved in the True Creator. If she doesn't complete the mission, the Aurora Order won't let her off the hook.
Hopefully, she can easily and happily accept that she has become a member of the True Creator group that does bad things.
