Background & Development

Before developing the human-fusion technique, Hiruko conducted biological experiments on animals and produced unusual summoned beasts. His work eventually led to the idea of using White Zetsu as a compatible foundation for human modification 29 102.

Hiruko presented the Chimera Technique to Sarutobi Toru, Tsunade, and Orochimaru after identifying White Zetsu as an ideal fusion medium. He claimed that its body could merge with humans without rejection, while supplying Yang Release chakra and regeneration 102.

The technique's research data was later exchanged among the group. Sarutobi Toru obtained it during their research collaboration and eventually traded its data to Orochimaru for reincarnation research material 103 104 221 276.

Function

White Zetsu Fusion Base

The technique uses White Zetsu as the base body for bloodline integration.

• White Zetsu is considered compatible with human bodies, producing no rejection during fusion 102.
• A successful fusion grants access to White Zetsu's Yang Release chakra and regenerative qualities 102.
• It is intended to allow a user to combine several Kekkei Genkai in one body rather than merely transplanting a single bloodline 102 276.

Kekkei Genkai Integration

Hiruko's goal was to absorb and combine multiple bloodlines, particularly those connected to major shinobi clans.

• The technique is capable of fusing up to five Kekkei Genkai 276.
• Hiruko believed bloodlines from the Uzumaki, Senju, Uchiha, Kaguya, and Hyuga clans shared ancestral similarities that could make them suitable for his plan 187.
• Bloodlines integrated through ordinary absorption lose their potential for future evolution 276.
• Incorporating dormant genes into a clone body during reincarnation can instead produce a naturally developing Kekkei Genkai, though activation is far more dangerous 277 278.

Limitations & Risks

• Powerful Kekkei Genkai, particularly Wood Release, are difficult to fuse safely; Sarutobi Toru warned Hiruko that a failed fusion could turn the user into wood 104.
• Bloodlines acquired through the technique may be less effective than innate abilities, since the user did not develop them naturally and may never fully master them 102.
• The energy required increases exponentially as more Kekkei Genkai are added to one body 221.
• Awakening fused genes during reincarnation causes extreme pain and can inflict severe physical damage, including bleeding and near-fatal collapse 278.
• Orochimaru proposed creating bloodline-compatible test-tube children as fusion material, but Hiruko rejected the idea because they would be his own children 187.

Hiruko's Reincarnation

Hiruko ultimately used reincarnation and the Chimera Technique to transfer into a specially prepared clone body before the Third Shinobi World War. The body combined his own genes with other bloodlines and was intended to awaken a Sage Body derived from Senju and Uzumaki traits 278.

The activation process nearly killed him, but Orochimaru's treatment and Sarutobi Toru's medical intervention stabilized his condition. Hiruko survived and proceeded to test the capabilities of his new body 278.

• Parasitic Technique — Sarutobi Toru's reverse-engineered counterpart to the Chimera Technique. Rather than absorbing another's bloodline into the user, it plants a Parasite Seed in a host, replaces them, and turns them into an avatar 105.
