• Sarutobi Toru befriended Orochimaru and Tsunade at the Academy, then persuaded Sarutobi Hiruzen to support his Medical Ninjutsu research while maintaining combat training.
• Sarutobi Toru ate the Hormone Fruit, developed medicines and techniques, and used his results to earn access to the Scroll of Sealing and the Flying Thunder God Technique from Tsunade.

Sarutobi Toru helps Konoha strengthen its influence through the tournament, political schemes, and a staged attack that deepens tensions between rival villages. After Toru and Tsunade survive blood transformation and Tsunade becomes the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki, the Sand Shinobi decide they must go to war with Konoha.

• Sarutobi Toru and Tsunade developed the Yang God Martial Way with Might Duy, while Konoha hosted a tournament where Inuzuka Hana, Duy, Yagura, and Hatake Sakumo’s team won their matches.
• After the tournament, Sarutobi Toru defeated Hatake Sakumo in training and discussed the Uchiha Clan with Shimura Danzō, then proposed secretly giving Uchiha women medicine that increased the chance of having girls.
• Six years later, Sarutobi Toru advised Konoha’s leaders on economic pressure, hospital expansion, and the risk of war, while Tsunade prepared to become the next Nine-Tails Jinchuriki.
• Shimura Danzō sent Sarutobi Toru to impersonate a Cloud Shinobi and attack Iwagakure outposts, and Toru manipulated Ōnoki into believing Kumogakure was behind the raids before revealing the deception to Danzō and Sarutobi Hiruzen.

Konoha defeated Sunagakure’s invasion of the Land of Rain, then Sarutobi Toru helped rescue the Uzumaki Clan from a Mist and Cloud assault. The arc left Konoha facing the retreating enemy forces after the Third Mizukage personally confronted its troops.

• Sunagakure invaded the Land of Rain, where Hanzo defeated its forces and captured Kosa before Konoha and Sand Shinobi clashed in a decisive battle.
• Sarutobi Hiruzen’s surprise attack devastated Sunagakure, and Konoha’s forces defeated the Sand Shinobi before Ebizo delivered the village’s surrender.
• The Third Hokage sent Sarutobi Toru to aid Uzushio, where Toru fought the Mist and Cloud forces as Shanks and found the hidden Uzumaki children.
• Toru gathered Konoha reinforcements and Uzumaki survivors for a counterattack, and the enemy forces fled after Might Duy, Hatake Sakumo, and Shanks broke their lines.
• Hiruko’s Chimera burned the fleeing forces as Konoha evacuated the Uzumaki Clan, but Toru later learned that an enemy ambush had devastated Danzo’s reinforcement fleet.

Sarutobi Toru helped Konoha defeat its wartime opponents, then trained in Sage Mode and began preparing Tsunade and the Uzumaki Clan for greater roles in the village. The arc ended with Toru and Sarutobi Hiruzen planning Academy reforms and deciding to strengthen Kushina and Kanao with the Perfect Potion.

• Sarutobi Toru led an attack on the Cloud Shinobi camp, captured Karina, and crippled the Cloud Shinobi supply lines.
• Sarutobi Toru defeated Gyuki and the Third Raikage, while Tsunade defeated Rōshi and Iwagakure surrendered, and the Mist Ninja later withdrew and the war ended with Konoha victorious.
• After Konoha learned that Nawaki had died, Tsunade grieved, while Uchiha Madara revived Nawaki with life-filled medicine and found him unable to speak or remember anything.
• Sarutobi Toru mastered Sage Mode at Shikkotsu Forest, then persuaded Tsunade to communicate and cooperate with the Nine-Tails.
