Background / History

Origin and connection to Orloff

Augusta and the Chief Sovereign of Fate, Orloff, were originally one entity but possess separate minds. Augusta cultivates the Laws of Light, while Orloff cultivates Fate; neither knows which of them is the original body. Augusta fears that Orloff’s pursuit of the All-Element Transcendence Method will ultimately result in Augusta being Devoured and erased completely. 73 117

Where Orloff discarded thoughts that hindered his cultivation, Augusta inherited the darker traits of their shared origin: madness, tyranny, greed, and pettiness. Orloff often restrained or overruled him despite their connection. 73 74 89

Feud with Beirut

Augusta developed a lasting hatred for Beirut after Beirut seized the corpses of the Four Divine Beasts, denying Augusta the spoils of his victory. He could not pursue Beirut into the Yulan Continent: forcing an Overgod’s power into the material plane could collapse it and invite punishment from the Supreme God. 74

When Utrecht arranged for Beirut’s Darkness God Clone to move freely in the Infernal Realm in exchange for Four Divine Beasts essence blood, Augusta objected. Orloff supported Utrecht’s decision, forcing Augusta to accept the arrangement despite his anger. 74

Conflict with Chen Feng

After Chen Feng refined Nahn Gavin’s Light Sovereign Spark, Augusta appeared and claimed that, as Chief Sovereign of Light, Chen Feng was his subordinate. Utrecht’s intervention prevented Augusta from openly humiliating him. Augusta nevertheless recognized the Overgod’s rules and granted Chen Feng Nahn Gavin’s territory. 73

Augusta regarded Chen Feng as an extension of Beirut’s God-Slaying Rat lineage and intended to eliminate him. He ordered his subordinate Anthony to provoke Chen Feng should Chen Feng enter the Plane of Light. 74

At the Sovereign Conference concerning Chen Feng’s Willpower Runes, Augusta fiercely opposed Utrecht’s proposal to settle his feud with Beirut in exchange for Chen Feng publicizing his forging methods. Orloff and the other Sovereigns approved the proposal over Augusta’s objections. 89

Break with Orloff

Once Orloff abandoned his Sovereign status to pursue transcendence, Augusta realized that Orloff viewed him as a potential resource to be harvested after reaching Grand Perfection. Augusta repeatedly dispatched Sovereign projections to the Musa Plane to disrupt Orloff’s cultivation and potentially kill his divine clones, but failed. 119 120

Augusta sought Clementine’s help against Orloff, but Clementine refused due to Orloff’s strength, Supreme Artifact, and unknown trump cards. Left without a reliable ally, Augusta fell into despair at the prospect of Orloff eventually Devouring him. 120

Deal with Linley and death

When Linley requested the freedom of his mother, who had reincarnated as a Twelve-Winged Angel, Augusta hesitated because releasing her required sacrificing a powerful Angel Reincarnation Pool. He instead demanded that Linley have Chen Feng kill Orloff in the Musa Plane. 121 122

Chen Feng later consulted Orloff about whether Augusta should be spared. Orloff declined to protect Augusta, asking only that Chen Feng grant him a decent end. 126

Chen Feng brought Linley to Lake Heart Island and killed Augusta with a single strike from a top-tier material-attack Sovereign Artifact. Augusta’s Spatial Ring and its contents were obliterated into Void Turbulence; his Light Sovereign Spark remained behind. 127

Personality

Augusta is openly arrogant, hostile, and vindictive. Unlike other Sovereigns who maintain outward civility, he makes little effort to conceal his contempt for Beirut, Chen Feng, or those who oppose him. 73

His actions are heavily driven by personal resentment. He refused to forgive Beirut even when doing so would benefit the wider Sovereign community, viewing their conflict as a matter of personal humiliation rather than Sovereign Sparks or practical gain. 89

Though domineering when protected by Orloff’s strength, Augusta becomes cautious and ingratiating when faced with someone stronger. He changed his attitude toward Linley after realizing Linley might persuade Chen Feng to eliminate Orloff, and later suppressed his anger when Chen Feng confronted him directly. 120 121 127

Chief Sovereign of Light

As Chief Sovereign of the Light Element, Augusta theoretically stood above the other Light-element Sovereigns.
