Background

Before joining Charles Xavier's group, Logan wandered without a clear purpose. When short of money, he fought for the army or worked as a mercenary, relying on his inability to die easily. He had not yet received Adamantium implants or lost his memory at this point. 89

Fang Mo first finds Logan drinking in a tavern during his wandering mercenary period. After learning of the proposed mutant team and its promised pay, liquor, cigars, and official status, Logan agrees to join Charles, Erik, Raven, Hank, and the younger mutants. 89 94

When the Hellfire Club attacks their base, Logan confronts Azazel to protect the young mutants. Although Azazel's mobility and redirected gunfire injure him, Logan forces the agents to evacuate and prevents further casualties. 97

Amnesia and Stryker's Experiments

Years later, Fang Mo finds an amnesiac Logan being beaten in a fighting ring. Logan no longer recognizes Fang Mo, attacks him on sight, and retains only a dog tag from before his memory loss. 665 667

Fang Mo identifies Stryker's Adamantine Alloy bullet as the cause of Logan's amnesia. Logan gradually recovers memories while infiltrating Stryker's base and recognizing the laboratory where he was modified. 667 689
