Early in the morning, while everyone else was still resting, Ye Lin had already left the room to begin her training. One of the most important aspects of cultivating a Martial Soul was physical strength.
The muscle definition on her body was inseparable from the training she had done over the past few years.
She wore very little on her upper body, just a crop top with eight holes stabbed through the back.
With a swish, the Eight God Wings unfurled from her back.
The four pairs of wings beat gently, and Ye Lin slowly rose more than a meter into the air.
"Judging by how quickly Soul Power is being used up, I can fly for three hours at most."
Ye Lin was fairly satisfied with that. Other Soul Masters who could fly would have found it incredibly difficult to manage even thirty minutes, let alone three hours.
Her wings beat hard, and she shot toward the distance at incredible speed, dwindling to a speck of light.
A minute later, she swiftly flew back.
"Her speed is pretty good, too."
"As expected, anything the system puts out is top quality!"
Flying was relatively easy to control, but making the Eight God Wings respond as naturally as an extension of her own arms would take a lot of practice.
Just as she returned to the dormitory, she suddenly spotted a figure sitting quietly on the roof above Tang San's room.
"Is that Yu Xiaogang?"
Ye Lin murmured.
"Now I remember. In the original story, Yu Xiaogang left after everyone headed to the Star Dou Forest. Is he looking for Tang San now?"
She knew that Yu Xiaogang would go to Shrek Academy to teach, but she had no idea that he'd had to argue with Flender yesterday before finally getting another chance to teach Tang San.
"Come to think of it, it's been a long time since I completed a Yu Xiaogang storyline."
"Grandmaster, do you know how much I've missed you?"
[Yu Xiaogang sat on the roof...]
"Change one word. Replace 'sat' with 'fell.'"
[Yu Xiaogang fell onto the roof...]
Yu Xiaogang had been sitting quite comfortably on the roof when his body suddenly lurched forward without warning. He landed headfirst, then tumbled off the roof.
Inside the dorm room shared by Tang San and Oscar,
Tang San habitually opened the door, ready to climb onto the roof to cultivate the Purple Demon Eye and breathe in the Purple Qi from the East brought by the rising sun.
He had just stepped outside and hadn't even had time to turn around
when a body came crashing down onto him.
[ Ding! Storyline modification successful. Yu Xiaogang fell off the roof, and Tang San was struck by Yu Xiaogang as he stepped outside.
Daily task to modify Yu Xiaogang's storyline complete. Daily task to modify Tang San's storyline complete.
Congratulations! The dormitory has completed two daily tasks at once. Reward: 100 points.]
Tang San was pinned beneath him and nearly flattened like a pancake. His head spun, and his vision blurred.
"Who ambushed me?!"
He shouted, then shoved Yu Xiaogang off his back with all his strength.
The first Soul Skill of the Blue Silver Grass in his right hand activated instantly, binding Yu Xiaogang tightly.
At the same time, he activated his second Soul Skill, Parasite, wrapping Yu Xiaogang in another layer of Blue Silver Grass. The spikes on the vines pricked into Yu Xiaogang's body with a soft pop.
Neurotoxin took effect, paralyzing him.
Yu Xiaogang had already been dazed from his fall. When the neurotoxin entered his body and the paralysis set in, he grew even more muddled.
"Damn it! You actually dared to ambush me!"
"Only Tang Sect disciples get to ambush people. No one else gets to ambush me!"
Tang San tightened the Blue Silver Grass vines around Yu Xiaogang.
"Speak! Who sent you to ambush me?!"
Yu Xiaogang could only stammer. He couldn't get a word out.
"Uh..."
He was weak to begin with. Although his Soul Power was at level twenty-nine, he didn't have the strength of a Soul Grandmaster.
In this state, he couldn't even manage a single word. If he'd made so much as a sound, Tang San might have grown suspicious.
"Not talking?"
"Phew!"
Tang San let out a long breath.
At last, after all this time, he had a chance to vent the resentment he'd been carrying.
He'd been tormented for so long. Now it was finally his turn to torment someone else!
He'd waited far too long for this day!
"If you won't talk, don't blame me!"
Tang San charged forward and punched Yu Xiaogang in the head.
"Bang!"
The punch knocked Yu Xiaogang straight to the ground.
He held nothing back, throwing blow after blow. Midway through, he even pulled out his blacksmith's forging hammer and started pounding away.
Watching from the air, Ye Lin swallowed.
Tang San really was ruthless!
He showed no mercy at all when beating up his own adoptive father.
Tang San among men, the Clear Sky Hammer among hammers;
with a hammer in his hand, he only beat his adoptive father.
No wonder he'd once become Lu Bu, the Marquis of Wen.
Each blow of the hammer was enough to make anyone's heart skip a beat.
Anyone else would have been beaten awake by Tang San, but unfortunately for him, the victim was Yu Xiaogang. He only got dizzier and dizzier, until he finally passed out.
Even in the middle of his excitement, Tang San didn't forget to cultivate the Purple Demon Eye. After climbing onto the roof and finishing his cultivation, he leaped down toward the bound Yu Xiaogang.
"Boom!"
"Pfft!"
Yu Xiaogang, unconscious, spat out a mouthful of blood. He was close to death. If Tang San had summoned the Clear Sky Hammer and struck him hard with it,
Yu Xiaogang would never have seen the moon that night.
Tang San stomped all over Yu Xiaogang, the blood soaking right through the Blue Silver Grass vines across his chest.
He stepped off Yu Xiaogang.
"Hmph. You dare ambush me?"
Tang San gave a cold snort and used his Blue Silver Grass Martial Soul to loosen the vines around Yu Xiaogang.
"Let me see who would actually dare to ambush me!"
"If I hand you over to Dean Flender, I bet he'll praise me."
Normally, he'd only dare mutter those words to himself. Now, with no one else around, he said them aloud without holding back.
The Blue Silver Grass vines loosened little by little, gradually revealing Yu Xiaogang.
"Only one arm?"
"You only have one arm, and you still dared to ambush me?"
"One arm!"
Then Tang San remembered that his adoptive father, Yu Xiaogang, had said he would come to Shrek Academy to find him.
A sudden, uneasy feeling crept into Tang San's heart.
"No way!"
"No, no!"
"Absolutely not!"
He tried again and again to convince himself. As if to prove his own words, he kicked Yu Xiaogang once more.
But when all the Blue Silver Grass vines had come loose and he finally saw the face of the person he'd bound,
he was dumbstruck.
The spikes on the Blue Silver Grass vines had punched hole after hole through Yu Xiaogang's clothes, turning what had been a fairly clean robe into the ragged clothes of a vagrant.
Blood from his mouth had stained his chest red. His face was bruised black and blue, and two or three large bumps rose on his head.
There wasn't a single uninjured spot on his body.
"Father!"
