Background / History
Tang San lived near Old Jack and Ye Lin in Holy Soul Village. Though he already understood martial-soul knowledge, he listened attentively to Old Jack on the way to the village awakening ceremony. There, he awakened Blue Silver Grass with Innate Full Soul Power. 1 2
When he left for Notting Academy, he defended Old Jack after the academy gatekeeper insulted their village. Yu Xiaogang subsequently took an interest in him, but Ye Lin’s alteration of Tang San’s intended words caused him to acknowledge Yu as his foster father rather than become his disciple. 3 4
During his first Soul Hunting Forest expedition, Yu Xiaogang was poisoned by a Datura Snake. Tang San attempted emergency treatment, but an alteration changed the outcome: he used his Clear Sky Hammer to drive a heated short sword through Yu Xiaogang’s arm, severing it. He later accepted the weaker ten-year Lone Bamboo ring because Yu could no longer hunt a stronger target. 8 9
After six years at Notting Academy, Tang San travelled with Ye Lin and Xiao Wu to Shrek Academy. He entered as a level-26 Soul Master and began competing in the Soto Great Soul Arena under the masked codename Thousand Hand Silver Grass. 11 13 49
Appearance
When arriving in Suotuo City, Tang San wore a fitted blue martial outfit and a gem-encrusted belt. 12
- Uses a storage soul-tool belt given by Yu Xiaogang. 6
- His Blue Silver Grass later develops green-blue coloring, trumpet-flower buds, Death Trumpet Flower patterns, and a glazed sheen. 77
Personality
Tang San is determined to prove the worth of Blue Silver Grass, openly insisting that a martial soul is not inherently useless. He persists through injuries, exhaustion, public embarrassment, and repeated losses, particularly when pursuing cultivation, arena income, or a stronger Spirit Ring. 13 49 65 71
He is deeply attached to Yu Xiaogang and repeatedly acts to save or support him: treating his poison, carrying him for medical care, pawning possessions to fund treatment, and later absorbing poison from Yu’s wound. 8 37 38 73
His loyalty coexists with a ruthless and deceptive side. He severely attacks Yu Xiaogang after mistaking him for an ambusher, then conceals his involvement while presenting himself as Yu’s rescuer. He also ambushes Ma Hongjun with a hidden weapon and participates in the theft of a Soul Guidance Storage Bracelet. 36 37 96
Abilities & Skills
Blue Silver Grass
Tang San’s primary martial soul is a control-type Blue Silver Grass. Its first two Spirit Rings let him restrain opponents directly or grow vines from planted seeds.
- Blue Silver Entanglement — Produces bamboo-like Blue Silver Vines to bind targets. 9
- Blue Silver Parasitism / Parasite — Activates Blue Silver Grass seeds already attached to a target, causing additional vines to grow around them. 11 50
- His vines can be cut apart by opponents with sufficient offensive power, as demonstrated by Jiang Liu’s halberd techniques and Mad Rhino’s Spirit Abilities. 50 89
- After the Death Trumpet Flower ring, the martial soul evolves into Green Silver Grass Flower. 77
Blue Silver Suona
Tang San’s third Spirit Ability is a sound-based area-control skill created through his evolved Blue Silver Grass.
- Emits sound waves capable of disrupting and immobilizing targets. 77
- Yu Xiaogang believes it can severely affect Soul Masters below level 30 and hamper stronger opponents’ movement. 77
- Cannot distinguish enemies, allies, spectators, or Tang San himself; its backlash can disrupt his own Soul Power control. 77 83
- The skill causes widespread discomfort and unconsciousness among arena spectators before Tang San defeats Wang Bing by activating Blue Silver Grass seeds attached to him. 83 93
Clear Sky Hammer
Tang San possesses the Clear Sky Hammer as his second martial soul.
- He summons it to strike the back of a short sword repeatedly, enabling him to sever Yu Xiaogang’s poisoned right arm. 8
- Yu Xiaogang considers the second martial soul the basis of Tang San’s long-term potential, particularly once stronger Spirit Rings can be added to it. 35
Mysterious Heaven Skill and Tang Sect Techniques
Tang San cultivates the Mysterious Heaven Skill alongside his Soul Power and uses techniques associated with the Tang Sect.
- The Mysterious Heaven Skill broke through after his first Spirit Ring and reached its third level after his third Spirit Ring. 9 77
- He uses its power to aid Yu Xiaogang’s recovery after the latter loses his arm. 8
- Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track — A rapid movement technique used for close combat, escape, and repositioning. 13 18
- Controlling Crane Capturing Dragon — Used to redirect Xiao Wu’s kick during their arena match. 22
- Purple Demon Eye — A dawn cultivation practice aimed at improving spiritual power; Ye Lin’s alteration temporarily blinds him during one session. 43
- Hidden Weapons — Tang San uses concealed weapons to ambush Ma Hongjun and values arena earnings as funding for forging more. 66 96
Soul Bone Skills
Tang San absorbs two leg soul bones before reaching rank 30.
- Thorn Bind — Fires a broad thorny vine that binds a struck target. 69
- Vine Wall — An instant-cast control-type skill. 70
- The soul bones significantly enhance his physical strength and raise his Soul Power from level 27 to level 30. 69
Nitrogen Acceleration
Tang San manifests an unstable movement ability during an arena match.
- Briefly propels him into the air. 65
- He initially cannot control it and flies off the arena, losing the match. 65
Virulent Poison Impact
During the fight against the Frenzied Battle Team, Tang San releases a noxious gas attack that Yu Xiaogang names Virulent Poison Impact.
- The gas is redirected toward the opposing team rather than Shrek’s members. 91
- Ma Hongjun’s Phoenix Fire Line ignites it, creating a combined explosion against the Frenzied Battle Team. 91
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Storage soul-tool belt — Given to him by Yu Xiaogang; it was originally said to contain twenty-four storage gemstones, though its capacity later changes unexpectedly. 4 6
- Short sword — Used during the Soul Hunting Forest incident and later in combat-related emergencies. 8 9
- Hidden weapons — Concealed projectiles used for ambushes and intended to be forged using arena earnings. 66 96
- Two leg soul bones — Grant Thorn Bind, Vine Wall, and substantial physical and Soul Power improvements. 69 70
Relationships
- Yu Xiaogang — Foster father and mentor. Tang San’s altered declaration establishes their relationship; he remains devoted to Yu despite repeatedly causing or concealing harm to him. 4 37 38
- Tang Hao — Father. Tang Hao personally tells Zhao Wuji to protect Tang San. 19
- Old Jack — Village elder who escorts Tang San to Notting Academy; Tang San defends him from the gatekeeper’s insults. 3
- Ye Lin — Fellow Holy Soul Village student and frequent rival. Her plot modifications repeatedly alter Tang San’s actions, combat outcomes, and public reputation. 1 11 13
- Xiao Wu — Notting and Shrek classmate. She declines to contest his position as Seventh Dormitory boss, then defeats him in the Soul Fighting Arena with Waist Bow. 4 22
- Dai Mubai — Shrek peer and rival. Their first encounter ends with Tang San kneeling before him; later clashes develop into open mockery and competition. 13 18 19
- Wang Bing — Arena rival wielding the Iron Silver Spear. Their rematches revolve around Tang San’s control skills against Wang Bing’s spear teleportation and recall techniques. 61 83 84
- Ma Hongjun — Shrek peer with a hostile, mocking relationship with Tang San. Tang San later ambushes him and steals a Soul Guidance Storage Bracelet while fleeing the academy. 28 96
