Background

Tang San is a soul from another world who occupies the body of a one-year-old child also named Tang San. In his previous life, he belonged to the Shu Tang Sect and had stolen the sect's inner techniques. After arriving on the Douluo Continent, he begins rebuilding the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record techniques from childhood and resolves to establish the Tang Sect anew. 6

Though he recognizes that he is not Tang Hao's biological son, Tang San conceals his identity because Tang Hao's care gives him a sense of fatherly love. He chooses to regard Tang Hao as his father for life. 6

Ah Yin, the biological mother of Tang San's body, learns the truth after viewing Tang San's past through the system. She concludes that a foreign soul has usurped her child and becomes determined to remove it. 6 10

Appearance

After fleeing Martial Soul Hall with Tang Hao, Tang San undergoes a Blue Silver King's attempt to alter his appearance. The process leaves him visibly disfigured and unrecognizable, prompting him to use the name Ah San. 66 125

  • Reaches approximately 1.6 meters in height during Tang Hao's training. 117
  • Wears coarse linen clothing while living and training in the mountains. 117
  • His altered face is described as ugly and prevents even Yu Xiaogang from recognizing him immediately. 66 124

Personality

Tang San is intensely disciplined and goal-oriented. He trains alone in secret from a young age, practices daily on remote mountainsides, and treats the restoration of Tang Sect techniques as his central purpose. He considers romantic attachment an impediment to wielding hidden weapons and prioritizes cultivation over personal feelings. 9 38

He is deeply loyal to those he accepts as family or masters. He treats Tang Hao as his father despite knowing their lack of a blood relationship, and he defends Yu Xiaogang's honor with open hostility toward anyone who questions him. 6 16 18

Tang San also grows increasingly cold and ruthless under Tang Hao's wilderness training. His killing intent begins to solidify at a level normally associated with far more experienced killers, reflecting the influence of his past life as a Tang Sect assassin. 117

Abilities & Skills

Twin Martial Souls

Tang San possesses Blue Silver Grass and the Clear Sky Hammer. His Blue Silver Grass is considered an incomplete form of a Blue Silver Emperor Martial Soul due to his inherited bloodline. 15 50

  • Blue Silver Grass — Used for restraint, terrain control, and manipulation of weapons. 43 117
  • Clear Sky Hammer — His second Martial Soul, identified by Yu Xiaogang as the world's foremost Tool Martial Soul. 28 48
  • Blue Silver Emperor bloodline — The Blue Silver King recognizes Tang San as the remaining bloodline of the Blue Silver Emperor and offers him cultivation support. 66
  • Limitation: Su Yun's fully awakened Blue Silver Emperor suppresses Tang San's Blue Silver Grass, rendering Bind largely ineffective during their duel. 45 47
  • Failed evolution: Tang San and Yu Xiaogang later conclude that Su Yun's prior awakening prevented Tang San from completing his own Blue Silver Emperor evolution. 154

First Soul Skill — *Bind*

Tang San's first soul skill manifests multiple Blue Silver vines to restrain opponents. It originates from a roughly 400-year Datura Snake soul ring. 42 43

  • Produces tough Blue Silver vines capable of rapidly entangling targets. 43
  • Carries the Datura Snake's poison attribute. 32
  • Can be combined with the Hundred Variations of Hidden Weapons to anchor and redirect hidden weapons across the battlefield. 117
  • Is severely weakened against Su Yun because of Martial Soul suppression. 47

Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record

Tang San cultivates the Tang Sect's Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record, a collection of six supreme techniques he brought from his previous world. 6

  • Mysterious Heaven Skill — His foundational internal cultivation method. 6
  • Mysterious Jade Hand — A hand-training technique that hardens his palms; it can catch weapons and is immune to poisons. 44 46
  • Purple Demon Eye — An eye-training technique used to read enemy movements and identify attack trajectories. 44
  • Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track — A movement technique that enhances his agility and evasive footwork. 40
  • Controlling Crane Capturing Dragon — A grappling and redirection technique used to disrupt an opponent's movements. 6 47
  • Hundred Variations of Hidden Weapons — A manual for using Tang Sect hidden weapons; it requires mastery of the preceding techniques and specialized weapon crafting. 6

Hidden Weapons and Combat Craftsmanship

Tang San forges and deploys hidden weapons while using terrain and Blue Silver Grass to control opponents' movement. 6 117

  • Uses vines to launch flying needles and throwing knives from surrounding vegetation, creating a dense projectile barrage. 117
  • Kills a thousand-year bat spirit beast with a single seven-inch crossbow bolt after trapping it in his hidden-weapon formation. 117
  • Possesses a Dragon Whisker Needle, a golden hidden weapon acquired through materials given by Flender. 143
  • His hidden weapons are most effective when he has time to prepare the terrain and ensure a decisive strike. 117

Killing Intent

Years of survival and combat training allow Tang San to emit killing intent that can partially solidify. 117

  • Enhances his threatening presence in combat. 117
  • Stems from the gradual merging of his past-life memories as a Tang Sect assassin. 117
  • Remains incomplete compared with the highest level of killing intent, which conceals all hostility rather than broadcasting it. 117

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Blue Silver Grass Martial Soul — Primary control and restraint Martial Soul. 43
  • Clear Sky Hammer — Second Tool Martial Soul. 15
  • Datura Snake soul ring — First soul ring; grants Bind. 42 43
  • Hidden weapons — Includes flying needles, throwing knives, and a seven-inch crossbow. 117
  • Dragon Whisker Needle — Golden needle retained for concealed attacks. 143

Relationships

  • Ah Yin — Biological mother of Tang San's body. After discovering that he is a foreign soul, she regards him as the usurper of her child and seeks to remove him. 6 10
  • Tang Hao — Father figure and later combat trainer. Tang San trusts him completely, while Tang Hao trains him as a weapon against Martial Soul Hall and as a future asset to the Clear Sky Sect. 6 67 117
  • Yu Xiaogang — Master and father figure. Tang San pledges that “a master for one day is a father for life” and repeatedly defends Yu Xiaogang's reputation. 16 18 20
  • Su Yun — Primary rival. Their Notting Academy duel ends in Tang San's defeat, and their conflict escalates into a planned life-and-death battle ten years later. 47 51
  • Blue Silver King — A reverent supporter who recognizes Tang San's Blue Silver Emperor bloodline and offers him a place to cultivate. 66
  • Flender — Shrek Academy's dean, who welcomes Tang San after learning that he is Tang Hao's son and possesses Twin Martial Souls. 125
