"Cool!" Barry looked thrilled, his eyes shining as he stared in amazement at Alex's suit on the mannequin: a complete set of black tactical innerwear and a black trench coat, making the plastic mannequin look valiant and utterly self-contained.
He could almost imagine appearing in that black trench coat combat suit at night, standing atop a building and gazing down into the distance, his posture cold and imposing as the frigid wind whipped the hem of the black coat. How stylish would that be?
But if this kind of superheroism kept using killing to stop killing, using forceful means to halt evil, then sooner or later, Alex would also sink into evil.
A trace of worry flashed through Barry's eyes. His gaze shifted from the suit to Alex's back. Alex was inspecting the black Desert Eagle and oiling its barrel.
Watching Alex's movements, a saying suddenly surfaced in Barry's mind.
He who fights with demons must always be vigilant, lest he become a demon himself.
I won't let you become a demon.
Barry silently made a decision. He would not so easily let Alex step into the abyss and become a demon.
At least, judging by Alex's recent superhero activities, Alex had already become almost demonically obsessed.
He had killed more than seventy-eight people. In just one short week, he had killed seventy-eight gang members. Whether those gang members had been guilty or not, Alex was already a full-fledged murderer.
His original intention was good, but his actions had become far too extreme.
He was a hero. He should not be a murderer or a judge.
No one could kill more than seventy-eight people without feeling even the slightest burden.
Alex must have been silently bearing that psychological pressure and negativity all by himself.
One day, he would go mad.
