The following are documented ascensions and related milestones among Sovereign holders.

Rank and Hierarchy
“Chief Sovereign” is not used exclusively for the highest tier: Black Sand is explicitly a Lowgod Sovereign, while Zijing is a middle-tier Sovereign 79 150.
| Tier | Documented distinction | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Low-level / Lowgod Sovereign | The lowest Sovereign tier; its rank cannot ordinarily be upgraded after refinement 156. | Black Sand, Bloodridge, Lianhuo 79 170. |
| Middle-level Sovereign | Ordinarily exceeds the lower tier by two portions of Willpower, corresponding to a hundredfold strength difference 168 171. | Zijing 150 175. |
| High-level / Peak Sovereign | Four portions of Willpower separate the low and high tiers in the standard comparison 171. Eleven leading figures represent the strongest Sovereigns of their respective elements or Rules 115. | The four Rule Sovereigns; Uterde’s Spark is explicitly high-level 115 182. |
- Sovereign Sparks: Seven exist for each of eleven elements and Rules, totaling seventy-seven. This is not the number of individual holders, since one person can possess multiple Sovereign clones 79.
- Grand Perfection is separate: Black Sand admits that he has not reached Grand Perfection despite being a Sovereign 79.
- Multiple Sparks: Different clones can refine different Sovereign Sparks. Hullei possesses both Thunder and Earth Sovereign clones 156.
- Fixed rank, variable strength: A lower Sovereign remains lower-ranked, but Grand Perfection, additional Willpower, powerful bodies, ultimate techniques, and artifacts can alter combat strength substantially 77 156 171.
Abilities & Skills
Sovereign Sparks and Willpower
Sovereign strength is principally grounded in the Sovereign Spark rather than the holder’s previous soul cultivation 170.
- A Highgod who refines a Spark becomes a Sovereign; Hodan interprets this as acquiring a portion of the world’s authority 156.
- Willpower allows a Sovereign to kill an Asura with a thought. Grand Perfections can resist this pressure, but remain vulnerable to a Sovereign’s true body 85.
- Refining a Spark grants power while imposing limits. Hodan finds that his own Willpower can supplement the Spark, but its accessible power has an upper ceiling 171.
Sovereign Power
Sovereigns can draw vast quantities of Sovereign Power through their Sparks 169.
- Gods can consume this power for temporary strength increases. Alex uses it to escape a spatial-freezing ability and fight at Asura level 45.
- Power matching the user’s own Laws or Rules provides greater amplification than mismatched power 96.
- Sovereign Power can temper bodies, though reaching Sovereign-Artifact-level durability remains exceptional 71 77 118.
- Paragons control it without the continuous dissipation experienced by Asuras 26.
Divine Sense, Speed, and Projections
Sovereign divine sense can cover a supreme plane such as Hell 78.
- Black Sand identifies Hodan’s route and intercepts him without being detected in advance 78.
- Sovereigns can manifest giant faces or energy-condensed figures remotely 30 79 93 104.
- Projections and ordinary divine clones are not equivalent to a Sovereign’s true body 79 150.
- Augusta crosses in one day a distance that took Grand Perfection Hodan several decades 95.
Plane Creation and Spatial Turbulence
Sovereigns can create Divine Planes and remain intact while fighting in Spatial Turbulence 49 77.
- A concealed Divine Plane, reinforced with Sovereign-level arrays, shelters Oufu’s allies 186.
- Sovereigns can retrieve valued subordinates banished into Spatial Turbulence 141.
- Exceptional cultivated strength can reproduce some Sovereign capabilities: Hodan traverses Spatial Turbulence before formally becoming a Sovereign 155 160.
Ultimate Techniques
Ancient Sovereigns develop techniques tailored to their own abilities, sometimes multiplying their strength dozens, hundreds, or thousands of times 171.
- Uterde: Uses World Destruction and develops Space-Time Disorder from inspiration provided by the Four Divine Beasts 115 116.
- Oufu: Deflects World Destruction barehanded; his soul-defense Supreme Artifact nullifies the principal effect of Uterde’s early Space-Time Disorder 116.
- Sovereign of Death: Draws on Netherworld power, absorbs souls in her Undead Tree form, and materializes her soul into a spear. Her final attacks exhaust her strength 180 183 184.
Artifacts
| Artifact type | Function and acquisition |
|---|---|
| Offensive Sovereign Artifact | A common emissary reward; examples include blades, swords, and gauntlets 4 124 150. |
| Material-defense Sovereign Artifact | Protects the body. Specially tailored versions can merge into the original recipient’s body but may fit another user only partially 111 124. |
| Soul-defense Sovereign Artifact | The most precious standard category and particularly troublesome to forge 4 163. |
| Supreme Artifact | Can greatly amplify a Sovereign’s combat strength. Oufu possesses a complete offensive, material-defense, and soul-defense set 115 171. |
- Sovereigns can forge and nurture their own Sovereign Artifacts; a standard gestation period is ten thousand years 13 118.
- Artifacts can retain protective contingencies. The Azure Dragon Sovereign’s Coiling Dragon Ring threatens unauthorized God-level claimants while permitting descendants with the appropriate bloodline to use it 13.
- A Supreme Artifact’s material remains dangerous even when a wielder cannot access its owner-bound power 182.
Emissaries and Political Influence
Sovereigns recruit emissaries by offering Sovereign Power and artifacts. Paragons receive unusually favorable terms because of their rarity and independence 30 79.
- Paragon autonomy: Sovereigns request their assistance rather than compel it. Huoxie and Hodan both refuse Black Sand’s offers without punishment 30 79 90.
- Practical value: Paragons can settle disputes among gods and operate inside Material Planes inaccessible to foreign Sovereigns 30 79.
- Negotiable rewards: Highly valued recruits can choose their artifact type. The Sovereign of Death offers Hodan a chosen artifact and unlimited Sovereign Power for personal use 118.
- Military merit: Ten enemy Commander badges can be exchanged for a chosen Sovereign Artifact after a Plane War 4 163.
- Family protection: Most Sovereigns maintain families, but distant or unremarkable descendants do not automatically receive personal intervention 79 154.
Restrictions and Agreements
Material Planes
A Supreme God prohibits Sovereigns from entering foreign Material Planes because their energy is too great for those planes to bear. A Sovereign may enter the Material Plane where they were born 49.
- The prohibition follows the destruction of a Material Plane by Zijing’s husband, who was killed by a Supreme God 49 175.
- Beirut’s native Yulan Continent provides refuge from Augusta, but consequently confines Beirut’s Sovereign body there 104 147.
Plane Wars
Sovereigns cannot send their true bodies into the Plane Battlefield or directly interfere in Plane Wars; these restrictions were established by the Supreme God 150.
Conflicts Between Sovereigns
Sovereigns maintain an agreement governing the killing of fellow Sovereigns 174.
- Hodan argues that the agreement did not bind him when he began hunting Sovereigns because he was still a god 174.
- Oufu pronounces him not guilty, explicitly noting that no rule forbids a god from killing a Sovereign 174.
- Sovereigns generally leave conflicts among gods to gods, though exceptions occur and some Sovereigns attack deities directly 79 110.
