History
Origins of the Feud
The Eight Great Clans shared blood feuds with the Four Divine Beasts Clan but could not retaliate while its Sovereign ancestors remained alive. After the Four Divine Beasts died, the clans pursued their descendants across planes, spending wealth accumulated over countless years on transportation and warfare 2 3.
One Wenna warrior attributed his hatred to the destruction of a 4,863-member branch after one of its members accidentally bumped into a privileged Four Divine Beasts descendant. The perpetrators subsequently delivered the victims’ corpses to the Wenna Clan. The coalition also occasionally accepted outsiders who shared its hatred of the Four Divine Beasts Clan 114.
Beirut prevented an early victory by killing more than twenty of the coalition’s Seven-Star Fiends and forbidding attacks on the Tianji Mountain Range. The pursuit continued for over ten thousand years, costing the Eight Great Clans many elites while also creating friendships, kinship ties, and intermarriages between their members 3 109 119.
Hodan Assumes Command
The patriarchs initially identified Linley as their most urgent threat, suspecting that he was a Mid-God who had fused five Mysteries. They agreed to kill him before he could become a Highgod 88.
Hodan and Huoxie interrupted their conference at the Boling Clan. After both demonstrated overwhelming power, all eight patriarchs bowed to Hodan and accepted his leadership in the war. He canceled the attack on Linley, correcting their assessment to three fused Earth Mysteries and warning against unnecessary escalation 89 90.
Hodan instead ordered the clans to recall their elders from Bloodbattle Valley, encircle the Tianji Mountain Range, and recuperate while awaiting his Thunder clone’s return. His strategy prioritized preserving the clans’ surviving strength rather than continuing costly exchanges 90.
Final War
After receiving Sovereign Power from Hodan, the coalition sealed the mountain range’s important exits and prepared mobile support squads. Its assault openly defied Beirut’s prohibition, drawing Beirut, Dannington, and Qinghuo into a confrontation with Hodan and Huoxie. The wider battle involved millions of Highgods 96 98 99.
Hodan instructed the patriarchs and elders to intercept enemy experts, prevent escapes, and prioritize their own survival. After the opposing Grand Perfection-level combatants ceased intervening, he personally destroyed the Four Divine Beasts Clan’s remaining leadership and much of its fighting force 108 109 112 113.
The eight patriarchs and Silvermoon then led the coalition’s army into the mountain range. Its unified command and more than ten-to-one numerical advantage overwhelmed the remaining defenders, although coalition members also died in the mass fighting 113.
The clans dispatched one hundred pursuit squads, each containing one hundred warriors led by a Seven-Star Fiend. Hodan’s divine sense helped locate fugitives in the region’s secret passages and strongholds. With Linley’s branch exempted, the campaign sought to kill every remaining bearer of the Four Divine Beasts bloodline, including infants, to prevent future retaliation 114.
Permanent Alliance
Following victory, the clans inventoried the captured wealth, arranged pensions for the families of the fallen, and divided the spoils. Hodan took a symbolic share of the inventoried estate wealth and instructed Renars to distribute the remainder equally among all eight clans 119.
Boling and Wenna proposed maintaining their cooperation through a mutual defense alliance. Hodan approved the principle, established its governing framework, and declined the position of alliance leader. The patriarchs and elders finalized the rules and swore a Supreme Oath to advance and retreat together 119 120 121 122.
The public announcement spread across the major planes and inspired other families to form alliances. These imitators lacked both Hodan’s deterrent strength and the Eight Great Clans’ long-established cooperation 122 123.
Organization and Governance
- Rotational leadership: The alliance leader position rotates; Hodan does not manage ordinary clan affairs 121.
- Separate clan interests: Members retain their individual foundations and negotiate implementation themselves. Establishing a shared headquarters does not mean abandoning their territories in other planes 121 122.
- Binding oaths: Patriarchs and elders swear a Supreme Oath supporting mutual defense and collective action. Future elder-level experts who reach Seven-Star Fiend strength must also swear 122.
- Internal conduct: Members may not invoke the clans’ names to commit evil deeds. Hodan warns that the alliance itself will eliminate offenders rather than protect them 121.
- Law enforcement: Each clan is assigned to contribute twenty Seven-Star Fiends to eight enforcement squads, giving an initial designated force of 160. Duties rotate, with stronger clans temporarily contributing additional personnel where needed 121.
- Hodan’s position: He provides protection, sets the alliance’s broad framework, and cultivates experts. After the victory, members regard him as their spiritual leader 121 123.
Military Strength and Resources
Armed Forces
- Patriarchs: All eight are Asura-level experts 96 122.
- Seven-Star Fiends: The coalition fields nearly two hundred before the decisive war 96.
- Mass army: Its final offensive includes a millions-strong army, led into the Tianji Mountain Range by the eight patriarchs and Silvermoon 113.
- Grand Perfection deterrence: Hodan and Huoxie provide protection beyond the patriarchs’ capabilities; Huoxie’s honorary position is intended partly to safeguard the alliance when Hodan is absent 122.
- Operational limits: The clans’ ordinary elites cannot meaningfully confront Grand Perfections. Hodan delays the war partly because he and Huoxie could escape a failed confrontation while the clans could not 90.
Wealth and Sovereign Power
- Inkstone reserves: The clans gather 10 quintillion Inkstone for Hodan, approximately sixty percent supplied by the patriarchs themselves 91.
- Conversion arrangement: Hodan quotes a price of 100 trillion Inkstone and one month per drop of extracted Sovereign Power. The narration explicitly identifies this as an inflated claim 91.
- Battlefield supply: Matching Sovereign Power is distributed according to each expert’s Laws or Rules, maximizing its effectiveness 96.
- Captured land: The former Four Divine Beasts territory contains mineral deposits, rare treasures, and spiritual lands producing herbs capable of healing Seven-Star Fiends 120.
- Bloodline facilities: The coalition occupies the Four Divine Beasts Clan’s Baptism Pool and acquires instructions for its use. Hodan’s proposed mass-production of inheritable divine beast bloodlines remains conditional on successful implantation 124.
Cultivation Support
- Training intake: Hodan receives 801 trainees, including Elder Muli; only twenty-two cultivate the Fate Rule, while the majority specialize in Thunder 126.
- Instruction: His Thunder Tree demonstrates elemental Mysteries and fusion methods, with his Thunder clone remaining to supervise cultivation 127.
- Training residence: The clans construct Hodan’s mansion on the Tianji Mountain Range’s highest peak as both his residence and an elite cultivation base 123.
- Talent selection: Hodan chooses talented Five- and Six-Star Fiends for household service, giving them access to instruction rather than diverting Seven-Star Fiends to domestic duties 123.
- Renars-specific program: Hodan separately entrusts refined Four Divine Beasts bloodlines to Renars for secretly cultivating talented clan members who lack inherited clan bloodlines 125.
