Background and History

Founding and standing

The Martial Alliance originated more than a thousand years ago, when thirteen millennium-old families united during the Great Qin Celestial Dynasty to resist the Demon Race. The word “Alliance” refers to this family coalition. 128

It governs Central Province and five surrounding provinces. As one of the four Seven-Star powers, it possesses a top-grade spirit vein, extensive cultivation resources, and the ability to communicate with patriarchs who ascended to the Upper Realm. These connections allow it to receive Upper-Realm supplies approximately once every hundred years. 128

The original thirteen families are divided into the Upper Five Families and Lower Eight Families. The Upper Five retain stronger Upper-Realm backing, while the Lower Eight declined after losing contact with their ascended ancestors. 128

Demon Venerable Seal records

When Guiyuan Sect learned that the Heavenly Demon Sect sought a Demon Venerable Seal in the Yandang Mountains, it consulted the Martial Alliance through Elder Old Zhou. The Alliance’s historical records confirmed that one of the Twelve Golden Figures and its sealed Demon Venerable were located there. 109

The Martial Alliance later permitted the Golden Figure’s destruction, since the sealed Apex Demon Venerable had already died of old age. It ordered the Three Great Sects to prevent the Heavenly Demon Sect from acquiring the corpse, while allowing the released spiritual qi to revitalize Cloud Province. 110

Organization

Recruitment and cultivation support

External applicants must undergo the Star Tower talent rating regardless of background. The result determines their rank, resource allocation, cultivation privileges, and access to techniques. External recruits ordinarily need at least Transcendent Bone Aptitude to qualify for entry. 128

The Alliance heavily supports exceptional talent. Seven-Star Prodigies may receive most Divine Abilities, spiritual medicines, and ordinary cultivation resources without spending Merit Points; exceptions include certain special resources held by the Thirteen Families. 130

Neutrality and arbitration

The Martial Alliance generally maintains loose governance over independent major powers. It does not normally intervene in their private feuds, instead mediating to keep conflicts from escalating uncontrollably. 126 127

Its neutrality has limits when a conflict threatens wider stability. During the Heavenly Net Mountains contest, envoy Gongsun Wuji administered the battlefield formation and enforced the rules governing secret-realm tokens, participant regions, and lethal combat. 115 126

• Demon Venerable Seal response — Verified the Yandang Mountains seal through restricted records and authorized its destruction under conditions intended to deny the Heavenly Demon Sect the Demon Venerable’s remains. 109 110
• Heavenly Net Mountains arbitration — Supervised the Three Great Sects Alliance and Subduing Dragon Temple’s month-long contest for access to the Mid-Grade Mystic Realm. 115 126

Star Tower

The Star Tower is a nine-floor combat trial built from Starstone and covered in formation patterns. Each floor scales its puppet opponents to the challenger’s cultivation, while later floors introduce coordinated formations and perfected Divine Abilities. 128 129 130

• Clearing a floor, rather than merely reaching it, grants one talent star. 128
• The seventh floor qualifies a challenger as a Seven-Star Prodigy. 130

Hidden Dragon Ranking

The Hidden Dragon Ranking is one of three ancient rankings, alongside the Heavenly Human Ranking and Supreme Ranking. It recognizes the world’s foremost young prodigies through selection and ranking battles. 126

• Successful candidates may receive a Clan Fortune Baptism that can improve physique, talent, comprehension, and cultivation potential. 126
• The Martial Alliance offered Chen Xuan protection specifically because his prospective ranking could affect the balance of the world. 126
• Chen Xuan ultimately won first place, bringing major prestige to the Alliance and its leader’s lineage. 135
