Overview
An Immortal is a cultivator who has entered the Immortal World and undergone the transformation to an Immortal Body. The Immortal World’s cultivation hierarchy begins with Void Immortal and rises through True Immortal, Celestial Immortal, and Divine Immortal to higher realms including Immortal Emperor 206 207.
The term should not be confused with the Immortal Realm, a special region within the Primordial Yellow Great World. The Immortal Realm was once controlled by the Immortal Palace and its Sovereign, but it is not the Immortal World itself 167 168.
History
The Immortal Realm was created or governed by an Immortal Sovereign of the Immortal Palace, who eventually entered the Path to Immortality in pursuit of immortality. He was killed by a powerful enemy, whose remaining power destroyed the Immortal Palace and left its survivors trapped within the Immortal Realm 168 176 177.
The route to the Immortal World became increasingly difficult after the passage between worlds closed. In earlier eras, Sovereign Realm cultivators could accumulate Immortal Energy, forge Immortal Bodies, and ascend; by the present era, the last known ascension had occurred more than a billion years earlier 205.
Chen Xuan reopened the Immortal Gate after completing the ninth layer of the Chaos Infinite Seal. The gate admitted only its opener, allowing him alone to enter the Immortal World 204 205.
